“Fire” 2 inches by 6 inches, oil on panel, up now at @williamhavugallery . I started making tiny paintings in 2009 thinking that reducing the bigness of our worldly experience to something very small, something that fits in our hand and wonder how that changes or heightens our perception. Good morning my friends! These three paintings, “Pretense”, “Mirage” and “Late” are included in the show “New Horizons” @reedgallery in St. Louis. Great show, great artist by the way. All three paintings are 10“ x 30“ oil on panel. I’ve got this idea in my head that when we walk around the planet, we look look left to right horizontally. When you walk into a room, you scan left or right. When you’re at a scenic overlook, you don’t look up mostly, you look left to right. That is why I paint in a panoramic format because I think maybe that’s how we see. if you’re near St. Louis, it’s definitely worth a trip. #landscape #landscapepaintings #contemporarypainting #realism #trees #contemporaryart #woods #california #frogs #earth #vista @stevecope50 #nature by @stevecope50
