My time @nbcchicago as “The Food Guy” has been truly wonderful. But I’m excited to announce I’m moving over to another Chicago institution: Levy.

I’ve known the management team @levy.restaurants for decades, and have always admired how they creatively feed and entertain thousands of people every day at venues all over the country, elevating the guest experience by surpassing expectations. In this new role - reporting to CEO Andy Lansing - I’ll be a culinary connector and collaborator. My focus will be on trendspotting, relationship building and creative execution across Levy’s industry-leading network of venues spanning restaurants, sports, entertainment, convention centers, cultural attractions, festivals and more. I still get to explore and discover places, but now that zone has significantly expanded across the country.

My final report for NBC will be May 29th at 10 pm. I’m going to miss the amazingly talented pros there and will probably have a little FOMO when I see their impressive new space-age studio completed later this year, but I couldn’t be more excited to start this new chapter.

If you’ve watched me since “Good Eating” at CLTV or maybe just started recently, I hope I’ve given you a reason to get out of your comfort zone and try something new. Thank you for trusting me with your dining decisions all these years. I hope to run into some of you at a restaurant, bakery, stadium or food hall in the years to come (or @pizzacityfest in Chicago this August or L.A. next Spring!) What a delicious way to support an incredible cause on Saturday. I finally was able to make it to the @southernsmokefoundation’s annual festival in Houston. The organization funds F & B workers in crisis - anything from home repairs to medical bills to mental health support - and awards grants all over the U.S. They raised a record $2M this year! No wonder I saw folks like @pizzeriabianco @kyleknallyall @cheff_jeff @brandoj @zjengel @haihaimpls and dozens more serving up incredibly delicious samples all day (95 chefs in all). Even saw @msamuels1212 pouring sake pairings at a 15 minute omakase from @sushihoriuchi. Ran into several industry friends as well. Just an all-out banger of a day; hope to return next year. Congrats @cshepherd13 on such a well-run event. by @stevedolinsky

Schnitzel-on-a-stick, smoked kielbasa w/mustard spaetzle and plenty of Spaten & Hofbrau on tap. Fun outing at the kickoff Oktoberfest @chicagobotanic. FYI, @levy.restaurants does the food here, and just learned we have a full time pastry chef here, hence the decadent (and flawless) German chocolate cake. Just had a thoroughly delicious feast @chezpouletchicago, the brainchild of Oliver & Nicola Poilevey (Le Bouchon, Mariscos San Pedro, Obelix). Three day brine & marination process before hitting rotisserie; silky chix liver mousse, curried corn, outstanding macaroni gratin & insanely good chicken salad! Rice pudding & chocolate mousse are the two desserts. Came early (5:30 pm) and there was a small line, just fyi. Tons of reasonably priced wines too. ❤️ this place and yes, if I were still recommending places on TV I’d be coming back with a camera. This is the kind of absolutely fun stuff I get to work on @levy.restaurants: helping bring an artisan like @robertspizzaco (just named #35 in the world by @50toppizza in Italy) to Soldier Field for @chicagobears this season. Talk about a game changer! Along with @chefryancraig, we’ve assembled an all-star lineup, including @rick_bayless @sarah.stegner @paul_virant and so much more. A substantial morning filled with creative pastries from @badbutterchicago, which used to operate inside a hotel coffee shop but now has a permanent space in a rustic Bucktown A-frame. They also feature naturally leavened sourdough bagels, focaccia and English muffins. So many reasons to return!

What a crazy-fun weekend. Not only a couple of days at @lollapalooza but a personal highlight: getting to “Sound the Alarm” before the @chicagofire match that also featured @_rl9’s home debut (in which he scored twice!) If you couldn’t tell I was excited by the pics, check out the video at the end of the post to see for yourself. On a side note: @levy.restaurants is a partner with the Fire at their gorgeous new stadium (McDonald’s Park) being built in the 78. Yours truly is curating a pretty delicious lineup of local restaurants to keep fans well fed. Can’t wait for everyone to see (and taste). #cf97 taken in Soldier Field by @stevedolinsky
