from competition school back in march to wheel-to-wheel races in april and earlier this month, it’s been a wild, sweaty, and humbling ride. 🙃

i originally signed up for competition school to hang another license on the wall, but over the past several months, i’ve really come to enjoy this just as much as instructing novice drivers and racing in time trials.

none of this would’ve happened without my good friend and BMW brother @andyman746, who handed me the keys to his race car and trailer and said, “go for it.”

i'm super grateful for every lap, every mistake, and everyone who’s helped me along the way so far.

can’t wait to keep racing through the rest of the season! 🏁

First season as a racer is in the books! 🏁

I started out timid and cautious, eager to get out of my provisional status while keeping my friend’s race car in one piece. Over the season, I became more confident and patient. Every moment and every lap on track taught me something new. 🙂

#746 was still a work in progress before I even started driving it. Compared to the other cars in the class, it was overweight, sitting tall, and not too competitive. I made gradual changes throughout the season to make it more competitive. 💨
 I began to trust the car more, stay calm under pressure, turn mistakes into lessons, and others’ mistakes into opportunities.
 The car still needs a lot of love, and I hope the new owner will take good care of #746 just as I did.

I finished 3rd overall in the regional Spec E46 class with NASA Northeast. I came close to my goal of finishing every race — had a couple of DNFs due to mechanical and electrical issues, got punted off course once, and made it to the podium several times. 🤞🏼

I’ll be taking a break next season to focus on instructing and supporting my friends in races. I hope to build my own race car and get back on the grid soon! 🙏🏼

the GX finally got some goodies!

i reached out to @lightwerkz to see if they’d be able to help address the dreaded performance of the OEM lighting, and they delivered.

my intention was to keep everything as OEM (or OEM+) as possible. they were able to retrofit the headlights with a micro D2S and osram CBN combo, and the fog lights with SSC2 yellow pro pods.

in certain angles, the gloss black housings look awesome; but in certain angles it seems like there’s a bit too much of a contrast. i’m hoping it’ll grow on me, but i’ll have to see and decide if i want to get the housings redone or go back to OEM housings. 🥴 taken in Edgewater, New Jersey by @stevejin
