“On Monday, President Trump signed into law HJR 140, a congressional resolution overturning a mining ban on federal land near the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, a more than million-acre expanse of wilderness along Minnesota’s border with Canada. Previous president Joe Biden’s administration enacted the ban in 2023. It was supposed to last 20 years; it endured less than three.

Environmental advocates say overturning the ban is both an existential threat to the BWCA’s rich ecosystem and a danger sign for public lands nationwide. Mining supporters say the move simply returns protections to previously accepted levels, which includes no mining in the BWCA or in a 220,000-acre buffer zone surrounding the major entry points into the Boundary Waters.”

The Nord Stream Pipelines that run across the Baltic Sea never should have been built… I’ve been predicting a disaster like this since 2005 but despite all the hollow talk from German leaders about combating climate change, the Germans wanted all the cheap gas they could get from Russia. Former Chancellor Gerhart Schroeder went to work for Gazprom after getting out of office. Joschka Fisher the former foreign minister, vice chancellor took a job overseeing the Nabucco Pipeline post government. Angela Merkel doubled down on Schroeder’s energy plan striking a the deal for Nord Stream 2 all while simultaneously claiming to be a champion of the environment and blindly cheered on by the German populous.

Whether or not this was an act of sabotage or incompetence, the Baltic Sea has been inunadated with more than 100,000 metric tons of “natural” gas. Given Nord Stream 1 and 2 ruptured in two different areas and are less than 20 years old, this seems to obviously point to an act of sabotage. Given this will cut off energy to Germany and raise prices, Russia will be the one to benefit. Already the west and east are blaming each other. No one will accept responsibility and can only point fingers. Humans are not responsible enough for this kind of energy infrastructure, we need to re evaluate our priorities and stop the proxy war between oil and gas oligarchs. Getting messages like this from people who have been out in the water. So far the coast guard, UCSB, and local journalists are strongly pushing the narrative this is normal despite the fact no information has been released from the CG investigation. Will try to keep getting this out and demanding more clarity but I need help. Otherwise this will be swept under the rug. by @stevengute
