Did you know Metro State offers a class called Curatorial Practices where students are taught how to hang a show? (among many other aspects of art)
Me either. Led by Metro State teacher Scott Seebart @case.edgerton, five students hung my show. Lucky for me because a lot of math was involved. 😁 Opening October 8 at 5pm, on display through November 12. Monday - Thursday 1pm - 7pm. Closed Fridays. taken in Gordon Parks Gallery by @steveozone1

Three photographers made photographs at the Manzanar Incarceration Camp: Ansel Adams, Dorothea Lange and Toyo Miyatake. Toyo took this picture of the Ozone family sometime between 1943 and 1945. The cost was twenty five cents per family.

When @urbanedrk first went to Mallard Island on Rainy Lake for an artist residency, I never expected ten years later I would visit three times in one year. Thanks Brenda! "You don't pick the island, the island picks you." by @steveozone1

GParks post #4 Retraced Steps opens October 8, 2026, Metro State University at the Gordon Parks Gallery. I was in Washington DC to visit the USDA building where Ella Watson was photographed in 1942 for the Farm Security Administration...needless to say I was distracted and arrived too late.
1) Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool
2) I thought for a moment the Reflecting Pool had been restored to American Flag Blue. 😁
3) In his own words
4) This really distracted me.
5) An appointment is necessary to enter USDA. Wayne only had one card, so I needed to photograph it. 😥 taken in Washington, DC by @steveozone1

Gordon Parks post #3 That time I drove seven hours for a haircut. Upcoming exhibit at Metro State University, October 8 - November 14, 2026. Opening Reception Oct. 8, 5 - 7:30
Retraced Steps: Inspired By Gordon Parks

Fort Scott, Kansas is the hometown of Gordon Parks. 1) I wandered into the only barber in downtown Fort Scott, to check it out, but when I stepped inside I felt compelled to get a haircut.
2) Matt Park is the owner of Hare & Crow Barber, named in honor of Wendell Berry and his novel Jayber Crow. The hare in Hare & Crow is a play on words. The space was formerly a photo studio run by Michael Henry, who made one of the last formal portraits of Gordon Parks. Matt will soon be moving his business to a retrofitted train caboose on his property north of downtown.
3) Kirk Sharp, Executive Director of The Gordon Parks Museum in Fort Scott
4) There's always one. taken in Fort Scott, Kansas by @steveozone1
