This has to stop. We have issues with police brutality, domestic violence, child abuse, sex trafficking, “honor” killings, drug wars, gang wars, animal abuse, and environmental destruction. We are systematically destroying ourselves and our earthly home. We have advanced so far technologically it’s almost incomprehensible. Why are we still in the dark ages of human and social relations? Too many innocent men, women and children have suffered or died in this country over the past several hundred years because of social injustice and murder. This has occurred for thousands of years around the world. Why does it still happen?!? We are all truly equal no matter our skin, eyes, hair, age or gender identity. Where is the understanding and compassion? It is the global community that is currently speaking out that has to change this unacceptable system. Our children and their children have a huge task ahead. We need to support them in their cause. Teach your children well. Do something kind for someone else everyday and pay it forward. Change starts NOW. We can not forget. We can not become complacent and comfortable without first changing what is broken. I’ve seen these uprisings all over the world many times during my lifetime without much effect. Let’s make it different this time. It has to come from each one of us. Speak up! Vote for change! Celebrate our beautiful differences and diversity. Love one another. Live peacefully and respectfully. by @stevesonnabend

I’m getting a lot of questions about my IG stories with pics of Covid19 pneumonia patients. Most of you haven’t seen CT scans before, so I’ll explain a little more. These are views of a mans chest going from his front to back. His shoulders are on top and his belly at the bottom. The heart is in the middle. All the white splotchy areas are viral pneumonia. The dark areas are normal air in the lungs. Normal “white” branching blood vessels are also seen. As the virus causes inflammation, the air sacs(alveoli) fill with fluid and cellular debris. These air sacs then become ineffective in allowing oxygen to enter the blood stream. If enough air cells are involved, then the patient ends up on a ventilator. The ventilator pushes higher oxygen concentration air under pressure into the lungs to help get it into our bloodstream. If the pneumonia progresses too far, it can be very destructive and even a ventilator won’t help. That’s when a patient succumbs to the disease. Certainly, most people that contract the virus don’t get pneumonia. Mostly it is a self limited cold like illness. I have seen pneumonia in all age groups. It is typically the elderly, immune suppressed, or those with other chronic illnesses that get severe pneumonia. Even many of those patients can recover with proper care. Thankfully, we live in the greatest country on our planet for medical care. I am hopeful that we will not see the higher degrees of mortality that other nations are reporting. We may see mortality rates here not too different from our yearly influenza “season.” We just don’t have all the data yet, so better safe than sorry. That’s why the hype and tightening of our freedoms. Please, just be patient so you don’t become a patient. Follow the recommendations for now and let’s get this under control. It’s not just about you. It’s your family, grandparents, neighbors, and our medically challenged community members. This is a time to be selfless, not selfish.
