Pretty clear from this pic that I’m pleased af to be awarded Best Restaurateur at the #GQFD21 @britishgq awards by the brilliant @claudiawinkle last night.This last year or so the restaurateur gig has been a pretty crap one. Millions of things didn’t go the way I wanted or expected and we are all still dealing with the fallout and trying to find the best way through with the added pressure from brexit. Amazed to be still standing at all and truly am massively proud of creating @joy_at_portobello with @tomdixon0 at such an insane time. We built the place ourselves with no time or money and I am completely blown away by how much people got on board and loved what we were doing. I’ve almost never worked harder than I have this last year and I’m def not getting any awards for best dad/husband right now. Whenever I work too hard my 🤍 @nicola.parle has to work hard af too. But there are no awards for that.👩‍👦‍👦👶It’s a cliché of course to say this but it’s completely true that this really is a team game and I’m so lucky to work with such talented hospitality professionals. We’ve been through a lot together and I hope as many of them stick with us through the next chapter as possible. Nothing I do would be nearly as good and most things would actually never happen without @nelson_liam who still somehow seems to put up with me and my madness. All the 🙏🏻 for still making shit happen with me after all these years.This award is all of ours. by @stevieparle

From Michelin-starred kitchens to a school hall! Last night, the four of us cooked up a feast to raise funds for Chefs in Schools.Teams from the River Cafe, Brat, Town and Wahaca – alongside school chefs – served up an amazing menu to 100 guests, in support of a charity that is transforming what children eat and how they think about food.2.2 million children in the UK live in food insecure homes. School lunch can be their only meal of the day. The World Health Organization recommends everyone should eat at least five portions of fruit and vegetables in order to reduce the risk of diet related chronic diseases.And yet only 19% of children reach this target.@thomasinamiers, @tomos_pp, @josephtrivelli and @stevieparle – shoulder to shoulder with school chefs Devi Raveendranathan, Lewis Rowe, Matt Green and Shernett Mecaley – took to the pass to bring in vital funds for the charity that trains kitchen teams to cook food from scratch that is fresh, nutritious and genuinely delicious.To date they’ve reached over 180,000 children across 140 schools. Stevie Parle, ChefGiles Coren: my top 10 restaurants of the year. TOWN: No 3 in Britain but No 1 in London.Giles writes about Town. ‘Unquestionably the most exciting food thing to happen on Drury Lane since the muffin man had to close his shop due to “improper behaviour in the workplace” (his defence of, “She knew I was the muffin man when she took the job,” buttered no turnips with the Bow Street magistrates). Town is a dazzling, mid-century-inspired visual extravaganza that has rejuvenated this drab bit of Covent Garden. Stevie Parle, one of the sleeping giants of British cooking, has returned to the top flight with a menu of whimsical Mediterranean riffs on grand English produce such as East Kent asparagus wrapped in lardo (which I’m guessing is off the menu just now), clams in sherry, roast bone marrow split over saffron risotto, sea bass crudo with tomato and grapefruit, as well as hefty pork chops, Wildfarmed beef, butterflied day boat fish, insane potato bread with “Town house gravy” and fantastic cocktails. This modern London-Italian restaurant and bar in Fitzrovia has been high on my to-visit list since it opened late last year. With a sleek, retro-futuristic, 70s-inspired interior and a striking window that looks into the Fitzrovia Chapel (sadly closed on the church side when I visited), @motorino.london is the latest restaurant from @stevieparle, with the kitchen led by chef @LukeAhearne (formerly of Michelin-starred Lita).The food is every bit as impressive as the interiors. at @town.restaurant going to town on a T-BONE STEAK and a menu that’s just pure Italian art…like the type that Michelangelo would do, which is fortunate cos the decor of this place is more stunning than that time Madonna has a wardrobe malfunction in th Super Bowl.Nobody needed to see that.
