The development of the AUG was done in very close coordination with the Austrian military, and was required to meet all of their demands. However, when the rifle was complete, Austria was not the first to place an order. The first 10,000 AUG order was placed by Tunisia in 1977.

“What finally led to the order of 80,000 StG 77 (delivery of 10,000 StG 77 each year) for the Austrian Armed Forces. The first export order of 10,000 AUG, still before the order by the Austrian Armed Forces, was to Tunisia.” - Ing Horst Wesp by @steyrarms_us

We told you we were doing something special. Something we’ve never done before. Something that you don’t want to miss.

This AUGust, we are doing a weekly giveaway for those of you who know how to follow directions and follow along with these different posts. We want you to win, that’s why we’re doing it four times. Each week one of you will win a $250 gift card to the Steyr website. At the end, there will be an even bigger grand prize. If you follow along well enough, and you have a touch of the AUGtism, you may figure out what that prize is before we tell you. by @steyrarms_us

Sometimes the mission is cutting grass wearing a bug suit while swarmed by mosquitoes and the @steyrarms_us AUG does that just fine too. #augtober continues by @steyrarms_us

1st place in Mobile Infantry with AUG and Alien at @fastmatches Idaho presented by @xtechtactical! Mobile infantry was not a crowded field with only 3 competitors but I placed 23rd overall. Par plus penalties on Sinistral Spud Check cost me a higher finish other than that my faith in bullpups which was shaken at FAST WV, has been restored.

Rifle:
@steyrarms_us - AUG naturally; it is an A3M1 which I milled to accept a MK2 rail.
@eotech - Vudu 4-12 MR5 - my favorite optic
@slateblackindustries - parts and accessories
@ferroconcepts - sling
@heresy_design - mag release
@corvus_defensio - QD sling attachment - a must
@americandefensemfg - 1913 QD with @magpul bipod

Handgun:
@laugoarmsusa - Alien 👽
@burrisoptics - FastFire E!
@battle_gnome_solutions - Duty Holster which enabled me to confidently run the Alien in a challenging environment securely. by @steyrarms_us

That smile says it all.

Our trigger work takes the Steyr ATD to another level, delivering a refined trigger pull of 3.75–4.25 lbs in single action and 7.5–8.5 lbs in double action.

One pull, and you'll understand the grin. by @steyrarms_us
