Let’s have a closer look at the key principles and construction of a classical Raglan.

From increase frequency and yoke depth to stitch distribution and fit, there are several factors that influence how a raglan sweater is shaped.

Understanding how these elements work together can make a real difference when choosing, adjusting or designing a raglan sweater.

You don’t need a whole new wardrobe for autumn. 🍂

A few things you can do instead:

♡ Dye that linen dress you never wear because of the colour (or alter it when it’s too long/wide/you get the idea)!

♡ Layer your summer dresses with knitwear, tights and boots - most summer dresses feel so good in colder weather when combined with warmer pieces

♡ Build outfits around the basics you already own

♡ Repair or alter pieces that need a little love (I love to dye my clothes; changing the color has me surprised many times so far and suddenly, a simple shirt becomes a beloved piece!)

♡ Knit your own accessories (with yarn from your stash)

♡ Experiment with new combinations before buying anything new - my clothes sometimes surprise me, when I combine them and they get a whole new vibe

I love finding new ways to wear the clothes I already have, especially when I can mix them with something I’ve knitted or sewn myself.

Building a handmade wardrobe doesn’t mean starting from scratch. For me, it’s about making, wearing and rewearing pieces I genuinely love.

Use what you have, make what you can, and wear what you love!

These adorable little sheep gang live with my friend Janine @waldschaf.viernheim and I could not be happier to visit them ♡

Did you know that they are pretty cuddly?

My color palette usually is not the typical autumn colors, but I think you can be an autumn lover without dressing in only browns, olive greens and mustards (which I adore)!

When the nature around me suddenly brings all the colors and turns my days into a lot of „look mama, there’s beautiful red leaves! Let’s collect them!“ - then I know knitters season is here.

Wool and linen are just the perfect materials for this season: combined, they create breathable but warm enough outfits I can actually move in.

Do you have Fall essentials?

I am sure every person that works with creativity knows pretty well about this: the less time we have, the more ideas are falling into our lap! Isn’t this absurd?

And it takes a pretty large amount of willpower staying focused on the projects that are in the process right now, not getting distracted from future possibilities and getting lost in beginning new projects constantly.

For me, that’s ALWAYS the case! I want to knit ALL the things, I’d probably need 72 hours in a day to complete them all!

Peppermint & Paper Theory Pocket Skirt

I’ve sewn this out of the wonderfullest 100% linen fabric in very autumnal gingham colors ♡

And what can I say? This pattern is the perfect (I mean, really!) skirt for every knitter! The pockets are fabulous and I am thinking of making them even bigger the next time, to accommodate more than a small project.

The pattern is absolutely beginner friendly and I was able to sew it within only one day.

I added some horizontally threads to the hem to prevent it from rolling and I LOVE the fit! It also goes great with my sweater, because - who said we can only have one patterned piece in an outfit? ♡

I don’t know about you, but I keep reaching for the same pieces to wear - over and over again!

I have a lot of handknitted sweaters in my wardrobe, but this one just hits all the right buttons for me: it’s a PERFECT companion to my linen dresses and skirts, fabulous with jeans and the fit is just the right amount of feminine elegance and feeling like a comfortable sweatshirt at the same time.

And this is what Slow Fashion truly is to me - to cherish your very special beloved pieces, wear them again and again and feeling fantastic in them.

And even if social media tells us constantly that we need MORE stuff, I truly believe that we just need stuff that matches our style, our personality and our values in the right places.

Do you know that feeling? Do you have clothing that you keep reaching for, that you can rely on and that lets you being YOU?

Ever wondered why it is so much easier to feel comfortable in handmade clothes? My theory:

Since I started knitting more of my own clothes, getting dressed has actually become so much easier.

I don’t really think about whether things “go together” anymore. I just pick the pieces I love and somehow they always seem to work together.

A hand-knit sweater, my favourite jeans, some good basics, a pair of boots. That’s pretty much it.

I can just dress for how I feel that day, and somehow it still ends up being an outfit. All the pieces I love blend together in so many different ways, which makes thinking about what to wear not that complicated any more!
