There’s special considerations that have to taken into account when making a tattoo design. Tattoos will age and change with your skin over the course of your life, and those considerations will be the difference between a tattoo that looks great for years to come, and something you hate looking at in a couple years.

For this memorial tattoo my client Jim wanted one of my realistic gems and a fingerprint incorporated somehow. Fingerprints have a lot of lines really close together and if tattooed too small they will for sure turn into a blob.

My client was willing to compromise on size and was open to making the fingerprint the focal point as opposed to the accent..and we were able to make the fingerprint and gem tattoo happen without compromising longevity.

Sometimes an idea has to be modified to make something work as a tattoo but if we talk it out we’ll come up with a solution!

I’ll bee back.
After a several year break Colby and I are back on this sleeve. She gave me a vague long list of stuff she likes ab 5 years ago. I pick what and where and how it looks. She shows up and I tell her what she’s getting. And I always add a little something to surprise her… this time it was the bee.

That way of getting tattooed isn’t for everyone. Not everyone can come in on the day of the appt and find out the subject matter they’re even getting that day and where it’s going.. and that’s ok. But I cherish these special l relationships where my clients give me so much trust bc what a fucking dream.

Don’t tell me what’s fun!

Going through my booking requests and ran into this. I hear this a lot and actually I recently had someone else ask if I only do fancy tattoos or if I would do a small simple tattoo for her.

Doesn’t help that my clients tell people it’s impossible to get in with me 😅. It’s hard ..but not impossible.

The answer is yes I will do small simple tattoos and that doesn’t mean they aren’t fun for me.

I have limited dates available bc I want to make sure I can put my complete focus on every tattoo. I’m not concerned with fitting in as many as I can, I’m concerned with scheduling as many as I feel I can get in without sacrificing quality or effort.

That means there’s a cut off line and I can’t get every tattoo scheduled, but size or complexity isn’t the only determining factor..so don’t think that you have to send me 2 backpieces to get tattooed by me.

In fact because I do so many larger and complicated tattoos small ones are very relaxing and fun for me to do. They’re also easier to fit in the schedule and sometimes I’ll even book them on a day off since I know it’s not going to take me 3+ hours.

I hope this clears things up and if I can’t schedule you, don’t read too much into it. I don’t hate you or your idea. I mean I might hate you..but mostly my schedule is just jam packed, and I appreciate you for giving me that problem! taken in Saint Joseph, Michigan by @stickertats

Beach Vibes mandala on the inner arm. Amber picked up this up for grabs design that matches perfectly with the outer half sleeve we recently finished. It was meant to be.
