Description below:

Political influencers are no longer on the sidelines of Georgia campaigns. Tia Mitchell talks with Qondi Ntini, creator of “Thirst for Democracy,” about how her online support for Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock helped turn political fandom into fundraising, organizing and campaign energy.

Qondi explains how “Senator My Boo,” “Senator Bae” and political thirst traps became entry points for serious conversations about voting, policy and democracy. She also discusses raising more than $300,000, attending the 2024 Democratic National Convention as a creator, why she avoids paid campaign work and what political influencers could mean for Georgia’s 2026 races. Find Qondi Ntini’s work here: https://linktr.ee/qondi

In this episode, you’ll learn:
• How Qondi Ntini turned online fandom into political fundraising
• Why Georgia’s Senate races became a testing ground for political influencers
• What campaigns want from creators heading into 2026
• Why authenticity may matter more than paid influencer posts by @stickqondi

I am glad I recently got to talk to USA Today’s Jay Stahl about Senator Jon Ossoff’s lifelong commitment to the Black community.

“Ossoff boasts a close relationship with Black Democrats in his home state. When he was 16, he wrote a letter to then-Rep. John Lewis, a veteran of the Civil Rights movement, and later interned in Lewis’ office. He then worked for Rep. Hank Johnson, also a Black congressman in the Atlanta area.

Ossoff reminded Lewis, a giant in Georgia politics, of President John F. Kennedy.

“To seek out and be mentored by Black men is not something you usually see from White men,” said Qondi Ntini, who in 2020 founded a viral online fundraising movement, Thirst for Democracy, about Ossoff being attractive.”

Today Senator Jon Ossoff spoke at Beulah Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta. I’ve heard versions of this speech before but something in him has shifted. Senator My Boo sounded different like his soul was ignited.

I am heartened the article used that particular quote about how he sought out the mentorship of Black people because my God is it evident in his sermon.

Reelect him and always Thirst For Democracy.
