⚡ Psychedelic, explosive, anything but predictable: US #synthesist and visual artist Liz Kosack pushes electronic textures to their limits, moving between raw voltage, unexpected turns and fearless experimentation.

Recipient of the 2019 SWR Jazz Prize, she creates a strikingly organic, retro-futuristic sonic language. Often performing masked, she dismantles ideas of identity and reality.

Together with bassist Dan Peter Sundland and drummer Steve Heather, her Berlin-based trio **Y** (pronounced “four star Y”) collides free rock, space jazz and fearless improvisation.

Berlin peeps!
We’ve put together eight among the many fine percussionists in town, and we’re doing this thing next Tuesday 29 September at the @kuehlspot_social_club.

… : köst-lichst! Aber es kommt sogar noch besser: Ihr (Isabelle Duthoit) Trio mit Steve Heather (dr) und Andy Moor (g) ist veritabler Punkrock, wenn auch ohne Viervierteltakt. Ihr Schreien, nein, Brüllen, ihr sirenenartiges Kreischen gehen durch Mark und Bein, selbst von ihr hört man dergleichen in dieser Selbstveräußerung nicht alle Tage, bei all dem wird sie von Moor kongenial begleitet, der seine Saiten mit Plektrum malträtiert und mit der Bürste beschrammelt, und Heather, der sich ordentlich ins Zeug legt und, wie man ihn kennt und schätzt, mit etlichen Präparationsgadgets sein vitales Drumming bereichert. Das Trio mit Isabelle Duthoit, Andy Moor und Steve Heather erschafft Klangwelten von eruptiver Kraft und radikaler Zartheit.

Zwischen Schrei und Flüstern legt Isabelle Duthoit die Stimme bis auf die Knochen frei – sie knurrt, zischt, haucht, brüllt, zwitschert; ihre Klarinette öffnet den Klang ins Atemhafte und Schwebende.

Andy Moor entwickelt eine dichte, raue und kantige Gitarrensprache. Mit Metall, Drahtbürsten und unkonventionellen Spieltechniken verwandelt er sein Instrument in eine vibrierende Klangmaterie – kantig, glühend, manchmal eruptiv, dann wieder fragil.

Steve Heather erweitert das Schlagzeug um Ketten, Objekte und Elektronik; seine präzisen, schneidenden Akzente speisen eine Energie, die die Musik antreibt und verdichtet.

Ein Trio von außergewöhnlicher Intensität – zwischen Beschwörung und Ekstase.

The Still is a Berlin-based instrumental quartet featuring pianist Chris Abrahams (of The Necks), Steve Heather, Derek Shirley, and Rico Lee.

Their debut album was selected by Mojo Magazine as one of the Top 30 albums of 2016 in their end of year round-up, calling it "a beautifully recorded future classic. Instrumental music on the axis that connects Talk Talk and Miles Davis“.

The Still is a collision of captivating simplicity and fleeting subtle complexity, stretched over far-reaching trajectories and patterned other-worldly planes. The Still delves steadily and unremittingly deeper into arrested time. Song-forms are diluted by overtones and resonance that melt together into a cyclical trance, promising no resolution.

„MIRROR MIRROR“ is a reflective light and ecstatic cyclical drumming duo.
Performing completely in analogue and in real time their communication relies upon a sort of telepathic connection of abstract ideas and emotions. A visual concert of sympathetic magic.

Asi Föcker uses mirrors as instruments to reflect light from light sources directly onto the screen. By manually adjusting the arrangement of the mirrors and light sources, she creates abstract light phenomena. Without the use of a projector, camera or computer, Asi composes a moving image, cinema without film. Steve Heather perceives the drums and handmade percussion as a large sculptural sound object. He explores the physicality of the drums and his relationship to them in order to create ecstatic rhythmic loops that constantly evolve and recontextualize themselves. Together, they create a magical, sensual audiovisual concert. by @stiffleather
