Do you only vaguely know what they like? Doesnt matter. Crafters loooooove random supplies. Set your budget (and maybe a color theme) and just stuff your basket with random items adjacent to their hobby. DMC thread, a random ball of yarn, tapestry needles, a spool of thread, glue, stickers, random pack of scrapbooking paper, stitch markers, cool buttons.

Unclear what it is for? Doesnt matter. Grab those alcohol markers or mod podge. Your crafty better half will figure it out. Or theyll trade with their craft goblin friends. Because craft goblins love hoarding but they also love sharing with other craft goblins.

On a budget? Thrift stores are a great place to find random craft supplies. Check the wall with plastic bags of random objects. You might find stamps, buttons, ribbons or a bunch of cool notions.

I've been experimenting with mixed media recent and while most attempts have been... um, learning experiences... I really love this piece. Enough that Ive already put it in a frame and I need to pick I spot to hang it.

Im obsessed with junk journal artist and the ability to create texture and 3D elements. This is the combination of ideas and just trusting my creativity. I tend to be rigid with trying to replicate an idea in my head. This project I really let my ideas evolve. I have to say the embroidery is a bit messy but it elevated the entire piece into something special.

I will add my 3 year old gasped and told me "Its so pretty mama." Which is high praise from her. She has been asking me to draw random things all day, from mermaids to doors and she has been a harsh critic. She requested a dolphin and it looked more platypus than dolphin. She shook her head and made me try again. She gave up on me after the third failed dolphin. And I was using a reference image. Dolphins are really tricky to draw.

I finished the Flower Stall embroidery I was working on. Ive been in a bright, flower filled mood with my projects lately but Im ready for Spooky Season. So Im trying to wrap up a few projects before the end of September.

It is still breaking records of triple digit heat in Texas. It's hard to feel like fall when my daughter told me 84 degrees felt cold. I guess that was the day's low temp. We did get 1/2" of rain a few days ago. Breaking the 67 day drought streak in DFW.

This is the time of year I miss living in the pacific northwest the most. I miss buying huge bouquets of flowers from Pike's Place market for surprisingly low prices. I miss wearing things I knit myself like cute scarves or fingerless gloves. It's hard to romanticize fall when it's still sweaty thighs sticking to the leather seats in the car levels of hot. Please tell me what your weather is like. Have you felt a cool breeze yet? Do you feel like it's fall now?

Ive seen so many cute enamel pins showing up everywhere. I had to test if I could DIY my own needle minders.

I will also say the supplies for this project dont cost a small fortune. If you love having a needle minder for any vibe, I highly recommend. I share the supplies I used at the very end of the reel.

Welcome to my new papercraft obsession. I had a lot of fun with this one this weekend because it used supplies I already owned and an activity my 3 yr old mini me can do too.

I used a 3/4 circle punch to make my circles from cardstock and a scrap of wood (quarter round trim) to fold my circles. I did make a"mistake" early on and discovered my pin wheels were facing different directions. I leaned into the chaos and flipped a few more pin wheels to look intentionally random.

I will admit I used a ruler to help keep my lines straight but this was fun and turned out so much better than I expected. I want to make more now. Maybe as greeting cards. I do the majority of my stitching cuddled on the couch with my three year old. So it's only natural she wants to be part of the fun. Im raising a future stitching buddy. If I have to frog a few stitches when she's not looking thats okay.

I can't forget to pay my Cat Taxes. 💸

Jenkins is almost 14! We rescued him as a kitten in October so we guess he was born in Late Aug/Early Sept. So I guess that makes him a Virgo. No wonder he is so attached to me. Its good having a fellow Earth sign in a house with 3 Air Signs.

There is always something in progress in my home. I made this backpack/kid coat rack in my hall last year. I love these fold down hooks we can flip up when not in use. Ive been debating a wallpaper for a while and I hate the hall light we had.

So today I replaced the light with this simple glass and nickle design that matches other lights in this area. It also didnt break the bank. I did some bad math calculating how much peel and stick wallpaper would be enough. More will be here tomorrow. I like the print. We also usually hang up our calendar and kid art on this wall so it will take some trial and error to finish it up.

Other projects on the docket that are stitching adjacent. Im going to try to learn book binding. Im putting my toddlers artistic endevors into a scrapbook/junk journal type situation. I didnt want a coil spine but I knew the bulk of adding paper would need a solution. So I deconstructed a clearance sketch book and we will see how far youtube university gets me. I also might search the dallas area for classes on bookbinding. Im positive I can find something. Hopefully in a timely manner and not something else to sit half around in a WIP pile for months/years.

And speaking of sitting around. Cat tax! Jenkins was very tickled to find a basket he could nap in. Ive tried cat beds under the table but thats not how cat logic works. The less of a bed it is, the more at home he will make himself. I hope your week is treating you well.
