Hi it’s me KellyAnne ✨ Today I’m going to share some studio portraits of the first phase of my production process: the CLAY.

First I cut a chunk of clay off the porcelain block. Then I roll that thin (1/8”) in the slab roller (this is my old diy one, now i have a big professional kind that makes my life way easier!). After the clay is thin, it gets smoothed up with a rib tool and is ready to cut into shapes. I cut both by hand and with shape cutters. Everything except studs then gets a little high-heat wire inserted while the clay is still wet. Then comes cleaning it all and wiping the edges with a sponge so they are smooth and won’t feel rough or sharp on the skin.

And next week, it’s time to GLAZE

Hello Fall 🍂 The last of my brilliant orange nasturtiums are blooming in my garden for a few more days. I’m not quite ready for the flowers to hibernate yet. At least in print form, they last all year. by @stitchprism

This is the first in a series of Grandmom Foods. For me that also means Philly regional foods. My Grandmom grew up in Kensington, raised her family in Juniata Park and retired in Huntingdon Valley. When I think about Taylor Pork Roll, (made in Trenton) I see her cutting 4 slits on the edges with scissors, the sizzle on the pan, and that extremely salty flavor with eggs or in a sandwich. I love that they’ve kept their packaging the same for so long.
