Cakes and cakes is a fibre arts day festival that is all about cakes 🎂 and cakes 🧶

What to expect?

- all you can eat fibre arts brunch
- a small market with a special guest from Tyrol @flaush.official
- a yarn tasting buffet with yarn cakes and real cakes
Psst there will be over 25 different yarns to try
- an area to sell or swap your yarns
-DIY stations
- non stop knitting and crocheting cinema
And of course lots of time and space to work on your WIP all day long 🧶💕

Hi everyone 🪩

This is me
A knitter that hosts fibre arts meet ups, trying to keep this account balanced between events in Vienna, my personal fibre arts diary and pattern inspos.
I’m obsessed with fibre arts, flowers, hosting and cooking. I have made it my mission to open up the fibre arts community to anyone. No matter what gender, age, needle or hook. An open space to ask all questions without being looked down on. A space where no stitch emergency is too big. A safe space that helped me become the knitter I am today. In 2023 I was about to throw away my first sweater unfinished, no one available to help and most yarn store owners intimidates me. I wanted a community for new knitters one that didn’t differentiate between levels hooks or needles.

In all of this take this also as a reminder that behind this account, my events and my patterns there is a hard working woman. She stays up way too late to finish posters, organise goodies and trying to answer all emails. *
Be kind to her and everyone else around you 🌸

Happy #charmsweater pattern release 🪩🥹

The charm sweater is knitted top down, featuring a drop shoulder and a customisable charm necklace. Whether it is a smiley, a flower, your initials or a word you can add anything to your charm necklace. The perfect way to get matching sweaters either your bestie while still having your personal touch. The pattern features over 31 charms that you can choose from. In addition you can work the colour work section in duplicate stitch, stranded colour work or intarsia.
It’s knitted on 4mm needles in Merry Merino 140 by @kremke_yarns
When I tell you this yarn has such a soft and buttery feel I mean it! It is the perfect sweater for colder summer nights walking home after dinner.

A huge huge thank you to my testers ! These are just some of them. They have bared with me through every update and adjusting. This has been a wild ride but I am so happy how it turned out. THANK YOU FOR YOUR WORK 💌

Stitches against violence - a worldwide public knitting and crocheting protest against gender based violence

A collaboration between stitch sip knit x @footprint_vienna x @stop.wien

We will join our forces again on the 18th of November at 5:45pm (CET) and spend around 20 min knitting/crocheting on public transport to publicly condemn gender based violence ✊🏻

This protest is worldwide so where ever you are join us on the 18th of November at 5:45 pm(CET), get on your public transport and craft away for 20 min. We will be wearing something red as a sign of solidarity and to recognise each other. This can be a hat, a scarf or a red scrap yarn. We invite everyone who isn’t in Vienna to join us in solidarity. Take your friends, your colleagues, your family with you and join us for these 20 min.

In Vienna we will protest on Tram line 1 and we will ride until Burgring. We will then continue to do a fibre arts walk towards St Ulrich Platz were we will join all together at the memorial of femicides. During the protest we will once again work on 10x10cm squares that we will turn into blankets that have anti violence statements and help hotlines embroidered on them. You can of course also donate squares that have already been made. All projects from the Protest will be displayed @buechereien.wien during the 16 days against gendered violence

Meeting point one: Prater Hauptallee station were we will take the tram line 1

You are welcome to bring posters, banners or something you would wish to leave at the memorial

If you can spare 20 min of your time join us for this solidarity protest

SSK x @hafibooks afterwork

Hafi afterwork nights are back!!

Join us for a night of WIPs, good books and delicious sodas

Like any afterwork at Hafi this event is donation based 🪩 just bring your own WIP and we will bring the rest. Hafi will be serving ice cold chai, matcha, soda as well as a curated selection of crafting books (and of course anything else hehe) and Zissa will be there for any stitch emergency, yarn talk and obsessing over new patterns

The real reason why I started SSK

My first sweater was the Louvre sweater
It took me a year to finish because neither me nor my grandma could figure out how to work the pattern
Pattern writing has changed so my grandma, who used to run her own knitting club, was lost working with a top down construction
I had just spent 120€ on yarn and felt like I might as well throw the whole thing in the trash
I did not feel comfortable asking in yarn stores and I did not having anyone around me who knitted

I did not know where to find like minded individuals. When I went to @banul_yeonhui I finally figured out how to finish my sweater. They had a knitted version of it in store and also demonstrated a concept of an open space for the new generations of fibre arts.

I am proud to say that with SSK I could open up a space for any level, any needle or hook, no stitch emergency to big, no experience to little 💕 my mission is that no one feels lost and anyone can learn how to knit or crochet (although I admit I often ask @valentinart.original to take over the crocheting emergencies since she is a pro)
