St. Mary’s Ryken is proud to welcome Kevin G. Carroll ’96 into the 2026 St. Mary’s Ryken Athletic Hall of Fame.

A standout multi-sport athlete, Kevin earned varsity letters in golf, basketball, wrestling and lacrosse and served in several leadership roles, including captain of the varsity basketball and lacrosse teams during his senior year. He continued his athletic career at Mount St. Mary’s University as a Division I lacrosse player, ultimately serving as team captain and earning All-Conference, All-Tournament and North-South All-Star honors.

But for Kevin, the impact of athletics extends far beyond competition.

“Athletics taught me the value of hard work, determination and teamwork,” he shared. Those lessons have remained with him throughout his career with the United States Secret Service, where teamwork, trust and perseverance are essential, including in his work with the Presidential Protective Division.

They’re also lessons Kevin now passes along to the next generation. As a father and youth lacrosse coach, he has enjoyed sharing with his children the same values taught to him by his SMR coaches, John Sothoron and Victor Thomas.

Looking back, Kevin says some of his favorite SMR memories are simply playing basketball and lacrosse, and the friendships formed along the way that remain strong today.

Please join us on Friday, October 16, as we celebrate Kevin and welcome him into the St. Mary’s Ryken Athletic Hall of Fame. All are welcome to attend the ceremony. Please RSVP using the link in our bio. by @stmarysryken

St. Mary’s Ryken is honored to announce the posthumous induction of Michael Bret “Mikey” Stovall ’02 into the 2026 Athletic Hall of Fame.

As a student-athlete, Mikey stood out for his competitive spirit, determination, and sportsmanship. Teammates and coaches respected the way he approached every challenge: with enthusiasm, humility, and a commitment to his team.

Mikey was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, co-worker, and friend. His wife, Ashleigh, and son, Jake, were central to his life. Classmates, teammates, and friends also remember his kindness, generosity, infectious smile, and the way he made others feel valued. The memories they have shared speak to the lasting impression he made both at SMR and beyond.

We will celebrate Mikey’s life and legacy at the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on October 16, when his family will accept this honor on his behalf. Please join us in remembering Mikey and welcoming him into the St. Mary’s Ryken Athletic Hall of Fame. 💙💚 All are welcome to attend the ceremony. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Cydney T. Smith Wallace ’13, a 2026 St. Mary’s Ryken Athletic Hall of Fame inductee!

Cydney stood out in both basketball and volleyball at SMR. A three-year letter winner in each sport, she helped lead the girls basketball program through some of its most successful seasons and was named the 2012 St. Mary’s County Volleyball Athlete of the Year.

She continued competing in both sports at the Division I level at Saint Francis University, where she ranked second in the Northeast Conference in blocked shots during the 2015-16 basketball season. Today, Cydney brings that same dedication to her work as a physical therapist.

We look forward to celebrating Cydney at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony on October 16! 💙💚 All are welcome to attend the ceremony. Please RSVP using the link in our bio. by @stmarysryken

St. Mary’s Ryken is honored to recognize James “Tommy” Clagett, Jr. ’00 with posthumous induction into the 2026 St. Mary’s Ryken Athletic Hall of Fame.

As a student-athlete, Tommy was known for his competitive spirit, determination and natural leadership. He was a respected teammate and role model whose humility, perseverance and commitment to others were just as important as his athletic accomplishments.

Those qualities continued to define Tommy throughout his life. While he achieved professional success, those closest to him knew his greatest accomplishments were found in his devotion to his wife, Jill, and daughters, Alaina and Zoey; his deep faith; and his passion for serving others.

Whether coaching youth soccer, mentoring young athletes, volunteering in his community or simply encouraging others to become the best version of themselves, Tommy led with kindness, humility and generosity. He believed in people, invested in their success and celebrated their achievements as enthusiastically as his own.

This October, we are privileged to celebrate Tommy’s life and the lasting impact he made on St. Mary’s Ryken and the Southern Maryland community.

Please join us on Friday, October 16, as Tommy is inducted into the St. Mary’s Ryken Athletic Hall of Fame, with his family accepting this honor on his behalf. All are welcome to attend the ceremony. Please RSVP using the link in our bio. by @stmarysryken

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Lindsay Quade ’03, a 2026 inductee into the St. Mary’s Ryken Athletic Hall of Fame!

Lindsay made her mark at SMR in basketball and volleyball. On the basketball court, she scored more than 1,000 points, grabbed more than 500 rebounds, and had her jersey retired. She was named both Female Athlete of the Year and Brother Clyde Student Athlete of the Year in 2003.

Her love of sports stayed with her after graduation. Today, Lindsay is a primary care and sports medicine physician at Michigan Medicine, helping patients stay active and return to the activities they love. She still plays basketball and volleyball—and recently coached her daughter’s first basketball season.

We look forward to celebrating Lindsay at our Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on October 16! Please RSVP using the link in our bio. by @stmarysryken

Please join us in congratulating Carol Edick on her induction into the St. Mary’s Ryken Hall of Fame!

Carol devoted 42 years in education to St. Mary’s Ryken, where her energy, school spirit, and love for students made a lasting impact. A teacher, coach, club moderator, athletic director, bus driver, and former faculty representative to the SMR Board of Directors, Carol’s presence was felt across campus—from Paschal Hall to the athletic fields.

Affectionately known as a historian of the school, she shared a deep appreciation for SMR’s Xaverian traditions and community while teaching multiple generations of local families. Her enthusiasm, generosity, and commitment to celebrating others reflect the very best of the SMR spirit.

We look forward to celebrating Carol at the Hall of Fame Ceremony on October 16! All are welcome to attend the ceremony. Please RSVP using the link in our bio. by @stmarysryken
