Very excited to announce a super-support for James Yorkston on Dec 12th.

Emily Portman is an award-winning singer and songwriter whose new album, Dominion of Spells, brings her distinctive songwriting to the fore in a spellbinding exploration of women’s lives and voices through folktales and ballads of transformation.
Hailed by Uncut as ‘one of the new British folk scene’s most beguiling presences’, Emily has spent over 15 years touring and recording as a solo artist, band leader and collaborator. She has released three critically acclaimed albums of original songs, including Coracle, which earned international recognition and festival appearances across Europe.
Emily is also a member of award-winning folk collective The Furrow Collective, with whom she has released four acclaimed albums of traditional song. Her collaborations include a duo with Rob Harbron, Sea Song Sessions with Jon Boden and Seth Lakeman, and appearances with Martin Simpson and the Waterson: Carthy Family. She is a BBC Folk Award winner for Best Original Song.

Come along and have an enchanted evening, the last St Michaels Live show of 2026.

Really pleased to announce our support for Fyfe Dangerfield at St Michaels on Nov 21st.

⭐️ Scottish folk multi-instrumentalist Caitlin Gilligan hails from the rolling hills of rural Galloway. Though now based in Liverpool, her songs still echo the wildness of her Scottish youth.

Her live performances combine haunting vocals, acoustic guitar, banjo and harmonium to create soul-stirring drones and melodies, weaving age-old folk songs into sets of bare-
boned and poetically-crafted originals. She demonstrates
refreshing insight whilst simultaneously summoning the
voices of times gone by.

She draws from the well of folk giants such as Anne Briggs, Jackson C Frank, Nick Drake and Lisa O’Neill as well as the traditional vocal music of Scotland, Ireland and America.

Caitlin has played alongside artists such as C.W. Stoneking,
Fionn Regan, Nora Brown, Andy Irvine, Steve Gunn, The Unthanks, Jerron Paxton, Sam Grassie, and Charlie Parr in beautiful venues across the UK; Komedia in Bath, The Ivy House in London, St. Mary’s in Chester and St. Michael’s Church in Liverpool, to name a few, as well as headlining well-established folk clubs in the northwest.

Caitlin is currently working on her debut album at Sloe Flower Studio in Chester, UK, which is due to be released in 2027.

NEXT WEEKS SESSION LINK IN @stmichaelslive bio 💜
Edgar Jones first came to prominence in the 90s as the bass player, singer and songwriter for Liverpool’s cult psychedelic garage band The Stairs. Their seminal track ‘Weed Bus’ was played on high rotation on Radio 1 for 3 weeks, before they realised its subject matter, and subsequently banned it.

He’s lent a session hand as bassist and singer for some of Britain’s finest, including Paul Weller, Johnny Marr, The La’s, Cherry Ghost, Ian McCulloch, Ocean Colour Scene and St. Etienne amongst others.
His love of soul, jazz and blues has led his solo career to run the entire gummit of such, all the way from big city northern soul productions, to one man gutbucket blues numbers on lathe pressed 45s. His solo show presently, is a tastefully varied collection of the latter, performed with gusto and hearty optimism . Guaranteed to bring a smile to any who catch it. by @stmichaelslive
