Thank you all for coming to the opening act of FERAL CHILD. It was a pleasure to hang out, sweat, talk and listen to each other. To perform oneself; one's sexuality, race, job title, gender, role in the family. Identity not as fixed but a verb that is daily acted out, reconstituted. These habitual performances etching deeper and deeper grooves into our life paths. Building up Surface; material processes as a channel to moments of otherness. To become other. To phase shift. Physical record of the artist momentarily inhabiting an intense self. To become multiple, a pack, a swarm. We’re very happy to invite you to feast with us again for the release of Cookbook Zine 2 at the @brooklynpeacecenter We will eat, listen to music and share stories about food. Please bring a meaningful dish to share and arrive at 6:30. We will be seated and begin the meal at 7.We state again:In societies centered on production rather than connection, eating has become a means to an end. Food is treated as fuel, to be consumed as efficiently and pragmatically as possible, as an emotional sedative, or as a signal of cultural capital, a performance prop.This night is an invitation to reclaim the aesthetics of food and everything that occurs around it. In times of conflict and apathy, we want to inhabit rituals that illuminate the humane and spiritual aspects of sharing a meal. This is a window to Story Hole. We read aloud, napped, had tea together and played in a camp full of books. All of them, dialoguing with the term stoma (from the Greek στόμα, “aperture”), were our guiding metaphor. We think of openings, holes, mouths, wounds—a deliberate stab into the saturation of contemporary experience.Are you inside a story? And which story? When do you enter? When do you exit? Happy about tomorrow’s event at the @brooklynpeacecenter with all these artists and friends. “On Immigration” is a group art show and celebration. We organized this exhibition through an open call and as a gesture of “non-curation.” Attendees are invited to create holes in weaponized border politics and systems of exclusion. Join us in collaboratively creating holes through weaponized border politics and systems of exclusion. We’ll also whack holes in a piñata. All are invited to sing, dance, eat, and listen together. Sobre inmigración es una exposición grupal y una celebración de una noche en el @brooklynpeacecenter Para jugar con la idea de las fronteras, hicimos una convocatoria abierta, un gesto de “no curaduría”.
