Don't rip out good stone. Stone restoration in Miami brings terrazzo and marble back to a shine, right where they sit.

Everything in this reel is past Stone D Art work from our archive, 2017 to 2021.

It opens on a travertine floor with the machine running and the slurry trailing the pad. Then a black and white marble floor, polished by hand along the wall.

The terrazzo room had gone flat and hazy. Same room after: the window shows in the floor again.

The Crema Marfil kitchen was dull between the cabinets. Same kitchen after, with the light running down the floor.

No new tile and nothing torn out. We restore and polish the stone you already have.

Before you tear it out, call or text us.

How to read a stone shower floor: watch how long it stays dark after the water is off. That is a shower floor sealing question, and in Miami's humidity it is worth asking early.

This one is from our archive, past work we posted in 2020. Our note on it back then: "Shower in very bad condition with stains and mold, but nothing that a meticulous restoration cannot fix." You can see it in the first slides. Dark clouds across the floor tiles, a black line where the bench meets the floor, the corners holding the worst of it.

A floor that stays dark long after the water is off is still holding water. The stone is taking it in, and soap film and mildew follow it into the open pores and the grout. Bleach works on the surface. It does not reach what sits down in the pores, so the dark keeps coming back.

What we do on a floor like this: clean it properly, hone the surface, then seal. One honest note: sealing slows how fast water gets into the stone. It does not stop etching.

Slide 6 is the same shower after our restoration.

If your floor darkens after every shower and stays dark long after, that is the time to call us.

Comment SEAL and I send you the water drop test.

Thassos, Crema Marfil, travertine, limestone: four stones we restore in Miami.

Every stone shows wear in its own way, and these four pairs from our archive show it plainly.

The Thassos floor had gone dull, with a gray haze across the white marble and dark spots along the wall. After the restoration it reflects the windows again.

The Crema Marfil kitchen was taped off and the cabinets wrapped in plastic before we started. We restored the marble and replaced the grout, and the cream tiles came back with an even shine.

The travertine room was dark and flecked with white specks and debris. We restored the stone and changed the grout, and the warm gold color came back up.

The limestone balcony had scuffs and dark marks on the tiles. After the restoration the floor is clean and even.

All four are past Stone D Art jobs from our archive, 2020 to 2022. No client details, just the floors.

Each stone needs its own care, and we work all four. Send us a photo of your floor for a free estimate.

Book the marble polishing in Miami before you book the listing photographer.

A listing's wide-angle photo shows the floor first. The lens stands in the doorway and pulls every tile between the door and the windows into one frame: the dull lane where people walk, the dull patch in front of the kitchen island, the hallway where some tiles kept their shine and some lost it. In most of those frames the floor is the biggest surface in the picture.

The five photos in this post are past Stone D Art jobs from our archive, 2016 to 2022, with no client details. Walk your listing room by room with them in mind: the entry, the hallway, the kitchen, the terrace.

Realtors and stagers, send us the listing photos, or the ones you plan to replace. We tell you which floors will show in them and what honing and polishing can change in place before the photographer comes.

A water leak left yellow stains in this white marble floor, a marble restoration we did in Miami.

This is past Stone D Art work from 2022, from our own archive. The yellow was not on the surface. Water had carried it into the stone, so scrubbing was never going to reach it. The stain was treated first, and then the floor was restored. The last shots are the same floor, with the lights reflected in it again.

If water sat on your marble and left a color behind, do not reach for a stronger cleaner. Send us a photo first and we will tell you what we see.

Most people expect a wine spill to wipe right off a stone floor. On this coral limestone floor beside the wine cooler it did not, and bringing the corner back took a limestone restoration, past Stone D Art work in Miami from 2020.

Coral limestone is porous. The wine did not sit on top of the tile, it went into it, and no mop was going to lift it. That is why we name the stone first and choose the method second. The first slide is the floor as we found it. The third is the same corner after we restored it. Both are real photos from our own archive of past Stone D Art work, and nothing in them is simulated.

If you have a mark on a limestone floor that keeps catching your eye, send us a clear photo of it and one of the whole floor. We will tell you what we see before anyone touches it.

Granite countertop restoration in Miami often starts with the spot you notice when afternoon light reaches the sink.

A dull halo, a chipped edge or an opening seam can each call for a different kind of work. We look at what the surface is actually doing before recommending cleaning, repair, refinishing or resealing.

If one area of your countertop has started to bother you, send us clear photos of the sink, edge and seam. We can start there and arrange a free on site estimate when an inspection is needed.

September 22 is the first day of fall on the calendar. Miami will not notice until the rain stops.

Right now the terrace stays wet. Water sits in the low spots, salt and grit ride in with it, and the stone holds a dull film that a mop does not lift. Then the rain ends, the season turns, and that same terrace is where everyone stands with a drink in their hand.

This is for anyone with a stone floor, a terrace or a balcony who plans to have people over between now and the holidays. Honing, polishing and sealing are done in place, on the stone you already own. No demolition, no new tile, nobody moving out of the house.

Book the floor work before the guests.

Free estimates. Call or text (786) 973-7688, email business@StoneDArtnsc.com, or see stonedartnsc.com. Miami and South Florida.

The client wants the mirror finish. The kitchen wants the honed one.

Same marble, three places to stop. Honed is ground flat and left matte, so it takes the light instead of throwing it back. Etch marks and foot traffic hide on it, which is why it holds up in a kitchen and on a floor everybody walks. Satin sits in the middle. A soft reflection, easy to live with, right for most houses. Polished is the last step, the finest abrasives, worked until the stone reflects the room. The color goes deeper and every mark shows sooner, so it belongs where the traffic is light.

Nothing is coated in any of the three. It is the same stone, taken to a different point.

Which one belongs in a kitchen? Tell us in the comments.

We hone and polish marble in place, so a floor or a counter can change its finish without coming out. Free estimates. Call or text (786) 973-7688, business@StoneDArtnsc.com, stonedartnsc.com. Miami and South Florida.

The photo is one white marble floor we restored. The three finishes on it are simulated from that single photograph, so you can compare them on the same stone.

What is on that pad?

Somebody asks it on almost every job, usually while the machine is running. The answer is diamond. The pads that go under the head are set with industrial diamond, and they run in steps: a coarse one first to take the damage out, then finer, then finer again, until the last one is closer to dust than to sandpaper.

Water runs the whole time. It carries the grit off the floor and keeps the stone cool, so the surface comes out flat instead of burned.

Then pressure. The machine is heavy on purpose. That weight is what makes the abrasive cut instead of skate across the top.

That is the whole trick. It is a finish, not a coating. Nothing is painted on. The shine at the end is the stone itself, ground fine enough to reflect the room again.

If your marble has gone flat in the walking lanes, or the whole floor looks tired next to the day it was installed, this is the work that brings it back, and it happens in place. Send us a photo or call and we will tell you what yours needs. Estimates are free.

Six in the morning in September and the bathroom tile is already sweating.

This is the wettest month of the year here, and the air sits at around 80 percent humidity for weeks at a time. Stone and grout are both porous, and the grout line is the lowest point on the floor, so it takes water in first and gives it up last.

That is where you see it. Mildew starts inside the grout line before it shows anywhere else, so a mop passes over the top and never reaches it. On the stone, damp air leaves a film and the shine goes flat, even though the stone under it has not changed. Then the sealer wears thin and water stops beading on the joint.

If you own a house here or manage a property, September is the month the floor tells you where it stands. Move air through the room and let it dry after it gets wet. Clean with a pH-neutral cleaner, nothing acidic and nothing harsh. When water stops beading on the grout, it is ready to be cleaned and resealed.

We do that work in place, without pulling the tile out. Free estimates. Call or text (786) 973-7688, business@StoneDArtnsc.com, stonedartnsc.com. Miami and South Florida.
