Today we're marking 43 years of Stonewall Housing!

In 1983, a group of activists came together because queer people needed somewhere safe to live. 43 years on, that same determination drives everything we do.

To everyone who has stood with us over the past four decades: thank you. We couldn't do it without you.

We won't stop until every LGBTQ+ person has a safe space to call home.

Today marks the first day of Genderfluid Visibility Week.

For genderfluid people, gender isn't fixed and it can shift over time. Too often, genderfluid people are met with doubt: asked to explain, justify or prove themselves, including when they reach out for help with housing. That makes it harder to ask for support and harder to feel safe at home.

To every genderfluid person in our community: we see you and support you, however you show up today.

This year's Black History Month theme is "Honouring Our Communities" and we're honouring the Black LGBTQ+ people who made home for others when the world wouldn't.

From STAR House in 1970s New York to Black queer organising in 1980s London, Black LGBTQ+ people have always been at the heart of the fight for safe, affirming homes.

That work continues. Black LGBTQ+ people still face both racism and anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination when it comes to finding and keeping a safe home. We're committed to listening, learning and making sure our services work for everyone in our community.

Last year, over half of the people we supported were Black or from other global majority groups, which is why we offer interpreting and work to make our services culturally competent.
