Nice moments among the chaos. Juggling a full time job and the final stages of creating a cookbook is really stretching me at the moment. I’m feeling pulled in all directions and am often having to remind myself that this is self inflicted. Something I try to do as frequently as I can is journal. It helps me sit back and reflect, process and understand, reframe and grow.

Interestingly, it’s this journaling practice that underpins my new cookbook. It pulls together journal entries that connect to the recipes in the book. Cooking a bowl of pasta for a beloved friend who was going through a rough time. Crying at the farmers market and cooking soup with the acquired tomatoes. Falling out of a tree while collecting mulberries and hobbling home to make a cake. Walking with my friend to get an ice cream on our lunch break and then recreating my favourite flavour at home. Picking cherry plums on a tree near a swimming hole and making jam with them.

It’s a deeply personal account of four years of living in the country.

Its now available to preorder 🩵

I so appreciate your patience and interest in this book. Self publishing is a wild ride and I don’t have the capacity to really make social media work to my advantage (the algo hates an infrequent poster like me), so over the coming weeks, the more you can engage with my posts and stories, like them, comment on them, share them etc - it would all go such a long way to helping me get back on the map so people can see there’s a new book on its way. by @store____room
