Whenever I see couples who have been married for 20+ years, I always ask them, “What’s the secret?” Almost all of them reply with the same thing, marry your best friend, the one you’re still excited to see at the end of the day, the one you laugh with, weather the storms with, and the one who will be there for both the worst and the best days of your life. Seeing Cath and Laurens’ love is endlessly inspiring. They’ve managed to keep that same spark alive through 34 years as a couple and 25 years of marriage. As this new chapter begins for Mel & David, I can’t help but to think back on all of the moments I’ve captured in their story. From hiking up Breezy Hill with 20 pounds of gear and garment bags on our backs, to their not one, but two beautiful wedding days and now, their new life. It’s such a honour and privilege to tell a couple’s story right from the start and continue with each new chapter. Detail shots are always my favourite way to start a wedding day. A minute for me to slow down before the madness. Get an idea of where I’m going creatively for the day. Elopements in Barbados are always beautiful, but this one truly was a special one to capture. The bride’s parents were married at this very hotel and they’ve returned as a family for many years since. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day for my first wedding of the year. A chill bride, an even more chill groom and the most beautiful venue at La Cabane. Amelia & Zac’s love was felt across every table during the heartfelt and comedic speeches, the unrehearsed first dance, the sweaty boogying on the dance floor and through the many, many empty bottles of rosé I saw lined up on the bar 🤪 taken in La Cabane by @storiestoldbysam

A whole decade later… One of my favourite days, the wedding of Ash & Logan. So many beautiful memories with their families here in this house to pass onto someone else now. We went back for a final farewell to the elephant ears, the leaves in the dry brook.. one final swing in their special place.
