THE SHADOW 👤 BEST THRILLER

We’re still taking it all in. Attending our first film festival, and taking home our first award. As a production company and as a team, the moment we heard the name of our film announced is one we will never forget.

Thank you once again to @bedfordindependentfilmfestival for recognising ‘The Shadow’ — the story that brought this team together and sparked Storm Cloud into being. 🌩️

WE’RE AUDIENCE PRIZE WINNERS 👤🏆

We are still on cloud nine! Thank you so much to the Femme Filmmakers Festival for awarding our film the 2026 Audience Prize. 🩶

The Shadow was originally scheduled for two screenings, but we were lucky enough to have a third screening added because of how well it was received. To then hear our interview host, Ben, announce we’d won the Audience Prize was such a beautiful surprise! We were so overwhelmed with joy in the moment that we could hardly find the words. We are so, so honoured.

As The Shadow is our first original short film, this was of course our first time experiencing Femme Filmmakers Festival. Wow, what a welcome it was! The care and thoughtfulness behind every question we were asked about the film and our process as a team was so appreciated. The community that Robin and the team have built is so warm and genuinely lovely, and we felt that during each discussion.

Thank you to Robin for opening up space for women and femmes in the industry to come together and celebrate each other’s films, to Ben for hosting a lovely interview with our team (that interview is coming soon, watch this space 👀), and to the entire @femmefilmmakersfestival team and everyone at @filmotomy for making us feel so seen and celebrated. This means so much to us. 🌩️

‘The Shadow’ has been officially selected for the Folkestone Film Festival, and nominated for Best First Time Filmmaker! We’re especially proud of this nomination as the majority of our team were in fact first time filmmakers. A very sincere thank you to the @folkestonefilmfest team for the nomination.

The festival runs 6th–8th November in Folkestone, Kent. Screening details for ‘The Shadow’ are still to come so we’ll be sure to share in the comments as soon as we hear!

November is becoming more and more of an exciting month for the Storm Cloud team… ‘The Shadow’ has been officially selected for the BIFA-qualifying City Lights Film Festival! Thank you so much to the City Lights team, we’re so glad our film resonated with you. 🩶

This is the first BIFA-qualifying festival our film has been chosen for AND it’s a female-led festival, so we’re feeling VERY excited about this one! Our founder @arrileigh created Storm Cloud Productions specifically to uplift women and stories about women in an industry that is still so predominantly male-dominated, always through an intersectional lens, while also being a safe, understanding space for other underrepresented voices. So of course, we feel very aligned with City Lights and are very proud to be part of a festival that so naturally shares our values.

The festival takes place in London from 14th–17th November for anyone who would like to join us and support our film. The festival team will be in touch over the next few weeks with the full schedule, so we’ll be sure to share more info as soon as we have it.

Thank you once again to the @citylightsff team for choosing our film to be part of your festival. This is a very meaningful selection for us and we’re really looking forward to it! 👤🌩️

Here we are, back again to share another festival announcement and some exciting nominations as well!

‘The Shadow’ has been officially selected for the Birmingham Film Festival, and on top of that, we’ve been nominated for Best Costume, Best Special Effects, and Best Original Score. We’re also in the running for the Audience Vote Award and the 2026 Bull Award, the festival’s top prize. Even better, we get to be part of their 10th anniversary edition this year which is such an incredible milestone!

We are beyond honoured to have been selected by such a long-running festival here in England, and even more elated that it’s another Birmingham based festival. In case you missed our last post mentioning it, Birmingham has been instrumental to our film. This city brought the Noir portion of our film to life and our director @kyrantownley is Birmingham-based!

A huge thank you to the @bhamfilmfest team for selecting our short and counting us among this year’s nominees. We’re so grateful to be part of your 10th anniversary celebrations. The festival runs from November 6th to 15th, 2026, closing out with their legendary Gala Award Ceremony! Our film will be screening on Thursday 12th November at 8pm if you’d like to join us and see our film. We can’t wait to celebrate alongside all our fellow selected and nominated filmmakers! 👤🌩️ by @stormcloudproductions
