Dreams do come true!! Last Saturday, I got to sit down with @francescalyn and talk about my comics for @storyboxcomicsfair 🍓 We chatted about documentation, ghosts, and why I am both Roadrunner and Coyote. Love to see a space like this thriving so close to an epicenter of evil (which we had to swing by to see this gorgeous gorgeous pool), supporting artists and the connective tissue of creative community. Thank you so much @dwightmess for having us!! Thank you everyone who came out to table, see comics, and hear our conversation! Photo credit @grifftones for slides 1 & 7, @francescalyn slides 3,5,6 Go check out Medium from @comicsblogger !! Caption last slide for me please? taken in Welcome to my world by @storyboxcomicsfair

SPECIAL GUEST Author/Artist Kayla E. at Comic Book Club THIS Sunday, July 5th at 2:30pm! Our club's next selection is the graphic novel, "Precious Rubbish" By Kayla E., who will join us via zoom for our meeting ! --> Description from Amazon--> "Kayla E.’s Precious Rubbish is an experimental graphic memoir drawn in a style that references the aesthetics of mid-century children’s comics and tells the story of a childhood shaped by maternal emotional dysregulation, rural poverty, and incest. The author’s childhood is portrayed as a collection of short-form comics and gag panels punctuated by interactive elements like paper dolls, satirical advertisements, games, and puzzles. While the work is concerned with violence and a particularly Texan brand of Pentecostal fanaticism, it is presented in a playful visual language with a deadpan humor that elevates the material beyond mere graphic memoir. "Precious Rubbish" is a landmark work of comics storytelling and graphic medicine." ***Readers are encouraged to obtain the book from whatever source of their choice (but Please support a local bookstore iyc!) 👍 😁 <----> Led by artist Olivier Ballou, the club meets bi-monthly at the Dwightmess compound (805 Silver Spring Ave, Silver Spring, MD. Membership is FREE and those NEW-TO-COMICS are encouraged to join! Gather around comics with us! DM our IG account or Email adam@dwightmess.com to sign up! @valdorneon #dwightmesscomicbookclub taken in Silver Spring, Maryland by @storyboxcomicsfair

More exhibitors for this weekend!! BIO FaSade G. Fagoroye is a narrative multimedia artist based in Washington, D.C.. In 2023, she earned a BA in Studio Art with a minor in French and Francophone Studies from Dickinson College. A storyteller at heart, FaSade creates illustrative works across painting, printmaking, and zine-making. Her work explores the dark, the eerie, the absurd, and the fantastical through imagery inspired by fairy tales and folklore. At the core of her practice is the question: how many ways can one visually tell a story? @fasadesart BIO Jared Throne's debut graphic novel, "Heavy Kill," was self-published in 2022. His second graphic novel, "Bridge Planet Nine," was released in October of 2025 through Top Shelf Comix. @jared_throne BIO Tom Pescatore is a poet/comic maker and former hobo, currently living in Laurel, Md.
