UMA’s Noize Freak class is led by professional musician, @stperrydiddle and provides dancers with tools to deepen their music comprehension and freestyle practices! Join weekly, Mondays 6:30-7:30pm @ #UMA 2100 Chestnut location!

Dancers learn to read rhythm notation, clap complex notations and follow complex rhythms in their dance. @stperrydiddle analyzes dancers’ physical dictation of rhythm, provide prompts for rhythm games and play the drums. This is a great class for dancers that want to be better improvisors, work on their sense of rhythm, listening skills and overall creative capacity.

This class is best for dancers that have a strong sense of their improvisational language, regardless of style. Beginners are welcome, but if their dance vocabulary is limited they may be limited in the extent of their participation.

Well if you like Jazz, Food, Coffee, and Beer you’re in luck!

I’ll be back at Wissahickon Brewing in Olde Kensington this Sunday for our Monthly Jazz Brunch Series from 12-3pm. It’s coming a little early this month due to some football team that everyone is obsessed with (🦅🦅🦅) but it actually works out in our favor, cause guess what…..MONDAY IS LABOR DAY!!! You know what that means!?

Looking forward to being back at @bobandbarbs next Wednesday 9/2 for my Monthly Residency! Every first Wednesday of the month!

Doing it a little differently this time! I’ve been craving a jam at B&B’s that really focusing on swinging and playing standards/tunes from great jazz composers….so I’m instituting the *First Ever* Straight Ahead Jam Session!

NO BACKBEAT ALLOWED!

I know that sounds harsh and I’m not normally into exclusion, but I think it would be a good challenge for all of us to try and stay away from covers and pocket tunes for a night!

Come on out and play that Bird tune you’ve been working on! Wanna play Giant Steps or Inner Urge…? Let’s do it!!!

Had to put this one on the main grid. Here’s a fun exercise I’ve been using as a warmup recently that’s really kicked my butt! Swipe through all the videos to get the full thing!

Third vid is the full combo. Each “variation” should be played on repeat for a while but I only play it one time each for insta sake. If you have any questions hit me up!

If you’re interested in lessons also HMU. I’m offering a discounted rate of $50 an hour til the end of July (lesson has to take place in July)
