Poudre River Update (10/17/26): Fall fishing on the Poudre is in full swing, and the river is in great shape! 🍂🎣
~ Don’t let the low flows fool you! There are still plenty of great fishing opportunities up the canyon. Dry-dropper rigs continue to be the ticket, but sizing down your flies and presentations is key. Small midges, BWOs, ants, and beetles have been producing, especially in faster riffles and pocket water. ~ We’re also starting to see some spawning activity in the canyon, so please be mindful of spawning fish and stay off the redds! ~ Looking to get out this weekend? Swing by either shop for the latest conditions, recommended flies, and a little local insight to help you make the most of your day on the water. A friendly traffic update from none other than shop news anchor Aaron Alexandar (@aaron.alexander), bringing you the latest on this weekend’s traffic situation! 🚧🎤 ~ With the ongoing expansion project on Harmony Road, we wanted to give our customers a heads-up that getting to our South Shop this Saturday and Sunday might look a little different than usual. Give this traffic report a listen to help clear up any confusion about getting to the shop. Just like last time, these traffic disruptions likely won’t last all day. ~ For those who make the extra effort to swing by the South Shop this weekend, we’ll have a FREE sticker waiting for you! Maybe it’s a side quest for your weekend adventures, or maybe there’s that one fly tying material you can only find at the South Shop. We’re kicking off our 2026–27 Fly Tying Demo season with a SPOOKY guest on a SPOOKY day! 🎃👻

Join us on Halloween, Saturday, October 31st, from 10:30am–12:30pm, as we welcome Chris Krueger (@rockymountainflydesign) for our first fly tying demo of the season! Only 25 spots are available, so be sure to reserve yours through the link in our bio!
~ Fly tying season is officially here, and we couldn’t be more excited to start announcing this year’s lineup of talented fly tyers! We’re starting things off with one of our favorite local tyers, Chris Krueger. A Fort Collins native, Chris owns and operates @rockymountainflydesign and is a Signature Fly Designer with @montanaflycompany, as well as a pro team member of @regal_vise, @solarezflytying, and @ahrexhooks.

With a name like Krueger, who better to kick things off on Halloween? 🔪🎃 Costumes are highly encouraged, but certainly not required! Fall means switching gears, and sometimes that means trying something new... ~ Shop staff and guides have been putting in the work dialing in the fall Northern Pike fishing here along the Front Range. With water temperatures dropping in our local warmwater fisheries, now is a great time to switch things up and target something new! ~ Pike aren’t the only species worth chasing on the fly along the Front Range. We’re still seeing plenty of actively feeding carp, some great smallmouth bass being caught out at Horsetooth, and all sorts of other unique species in between. ~ Looking to switch things up but not sure where to start? Class Spotlight: Mile Spey School (2 spots left)

If you’ve ever watched someone make a smooth two handed cast across the river and thought, “That looks cool, but I wouldn’t even know where to start,” this class is exactly where to begin.
~
This Sunday (October 11th from 9am to 3pm), we’re heading to the Miracle Mile for a full day dedicated to learning the fundamentals of Trout Spey and swinging flies for trout, ON THE WATER.
~
No Spey experience is necessary. We provide all the equipment, lunch, and hands on instruction throughout the day. With only three anglers in the class, there’s plenty of individual instruction and time to get comfortable with something new. Tie One On Tuesday is back, and bigger than ever! 🍻🎣

Last year, we launched “Tie One On Tuesday” as a fun way to share what our staff had been tying and fishing. This year, we’re taking the “Tie One On” part of the name a little further and inviting you to join us! Throughout the season, we’ll be hosting open fly tying nights at local breweries around Fort Collins. Bring your vise, materials, and whatever patterns you want to tie, grab a beer, and spend the evening tying alongside fellow anglers. Our first Tie One On Tuesday is coming up next week!
