Farewell Willi 💚💛🪰
This morning, Willi (D-ABON) took off to the skies for the very last time, flying from Düsseldorf to St. Athan, Wales.

Willi was never just a Boeing 757-300, he was a true @condorairlines icon. For over 25 years, he served for Condor, its crews, pilots, and countless passengers with loyalty and grace. Many loved him for his special livery featuring the words “Wir lieben Fliegen” (“We love flying”), created for Condor’s 50th anniversary. That’s also when he was lovely named Willi, in honor of Wilfried Meyer, a long-time Condor sales manager who left a lasting mark on the airline’s history.

For me, it was always a pleasure to see Willi, whether in Frankfurt or in Düsseldorf, his presence always brought a smile to my face, especially with that little fly 🪰 on the tail.

That’s why I took a 5-hour train ride to @dusairport yesterday, just to watch him depart one last time, guided out by marshallers ,on his final journey.

Willi, you will be missed, but forever loved. 💚💛🪰🥲

TF-FIU, named "Hekla Aurora", was one of the most popular aircraft among planespotters and aviation enthusiasts. ✈️📸✈️❤️

This was mainly because, since late 2014, it carried the unique and beautiful "Aurora Borealis livery", inspired by the Northern Lights! 🌌🇮🇸✈️

In October 2025, after 31 years of service, first with Iberia and later with Icelandair, she made one final and very special flight over Iceland before finlly heading to Lleida, Spain, where she was sadly scrapped. ✈️😢

Thankfully, she now lives on in a total of 25,000 Aviationtags, one of which I have already secured for myself. 🏷️✈️🌌

Here are some of my pictures of "Hekla Aurora" from August 2022 in Frankfurt, back when Icelandair’s 757s were still regular visitors to Frankfurt. ✈️🇮🇸🔥

@flyswiss oldest Airbus A321, HB-IOH, captured here on her way to her final flight to Palma de Mallorca, just two days before her retirement. 🥹✈️

HB-IOH joined the fleet back in 1997 and spent almost three decades in service, first with Swissair and later with Swiss. Over the years, she carried countless passengers across Europe and beyond, becoming a familiar sight in Swiss skies. 🇨🇭☁️🇪🇺

Just nine days after this photo was taken, HB-IOH made her final journey to the aircraft graveyard in Teruel, Spain, marking the end of an era. ✈️🇪🇸🪚

Farewell, HB-IOH! ✈️🇨🇭👋

A slightly older shot from November 2022, showing @lufthansacargoag ’s “Natural Beauty”, D-ALFJ, taking off from RWY 18 on a beautiful autumn afternoon. 🍂

The aircraft had only joined Lufthansa’s fleet a few months earlier, having previously flown for Emirates.

Sadly, it’s no longer possible to catch her in this look, as she has been flying in the full Lufthansa livery for 3 years now. ✈️🤍🔥

The 31 year old "Renton Rocket" ready for its departure at @stuttgartairport ! ✈️🚀🇺🇸

This Boeing 757 is a bit special because it flew for seven different operators before finally joining DHL Air Austria in January 2022, and it's still going strong. ✈️💛🇦🇹

A U.S. Air Force C-5M Super Galaxy parked at Stuttgart U.S. Army Airfield during its three-day stay in June, with temperatures reaching 36°C (97°F). ☀️🇺🇸✈️🪖

One of only 16 E-6B Mercury aircraft ever built worldwide departing Stuttgart after spending a few days here, operating several flights for U.S. Navy in between.

It's always a pleasure to see these classic aircraft, based on the legendary Boeing 707, departing with the iconic TV Tower in the background.
