Let’s talk about kidney function and diabetes!

I recently learned that my kidneys are functioning at an estimated 62%. While that’s encouraging, it’s a reminder of how important it is to understand how diabetes affects my body and what I can do to protect my kidney health.

Did you know diabetes is the leading cause of chronic kidney disease (CKD)? Approximately 1 in 3 adults living with diabetes develops CKD.

A few ways to protect your kidneys:

* Keep blood sugar under control.
* Monitor blood pressure.
* Be mindful of medications like ibuprofen and naproxen.
* Limit excess sodium and stay hydrated.
* Get regular kidney function testing.

Living with diabetes means being intentional about your health. Prevention and early detection matter!

One of the most common things I hear is, “You have diabetes? But you’re not overweight!”

You do NOT have to be overweight to have diabetes!

In my case, my body struggles to produce enough insulin to regulate my blood sugar.

Genetics, impaired insulin production, and other metabolic factors can all play a role. Diabetes doesn’t look the same in everyone.

You can’t look at someone and know what’s happening inside their body.

Let’s stop judging diabetes by body size and start understanding the disease.

DIABETES DOESN’T HAVE A LOOK!

#DiabetesAwareness #Type2Diabetes #BreakTheStigma by @str8kute

I’ve been living with Type 2 diabetes for 29 years, and one thing I want people to understand is that diabetes is not a death sentence. Knowledge is power, and education is our first line of defense. The more we know, the better equipped we are to manage, prevent complications, and advocate for our health.

November is National Diabetes Awareness Month, and BLUE is the color of diabetes awareness! 💙

This marks my 3rd year styling in blue to bring awareness, spark conversations, and show support for everyone impacted by diabetes.

I wear blue not just for awareness, but because this is personal. It’s part of my story, and I want to use my voice and my style to remind others that a diabetes diagnosis does not define you.

Let’s educate, encourage, support, and bring awareness! 💙

God.
Nothing else needed.

This design was created with intention and simplicity because when everything is stripped away, all you truly need is God. The single word, followed by a period, is not accidental. It’s a statement of trust. A reminder of faith over fear. A declaration that God is enough in every season.

The GOD. sweatshirt is a meaningful collaboration between A Stylish Heart and A Widow’s Promise Foundation, bringing together faith, fashion, and purpose. A Stylish Heart provides the creative expression using clothing as a canvas for belief while A Widow’s Promise Foundation carries the mission of supporting widowed parents facing financial hardship.

A portion of every purchase is donated directly to A Widow’s Promise Foundation, helping provide small but impactful assistance to families during some of life’s most difficult moments.

When you wear this sweatshirt, you’re doing more than making a statement. You are standing in faith and extending hope to others.

God. Nothing else needed.
