I love these What If books as I explained in a post a week or so ago. This one is cool but if it was my idea I’d have thought of 3 much more interesting characters to be bitten by the spider. Flash is a good one but I would rather see JJ Jameson get bit rather than John. That would’ve been hilarious. I wish I had included the panels featuring the 3 in their Spidey costumes Not sure why I didn’t. Lazy I guess. ✌️👽

I’ve been reading a ton of Green Lantern stuff lately. I’m sure I’ve been inspired by watching the Lanterns series on HBO/Max hitch I’m digging big time. I’ve always been into comics that take place in Space or that have all sorts of alien races and battles. Green Lantern is always good for that stuff. This book especially caught my eye as I was going thru short boxes as it features all the greatest Lanterns-Guy, Hal, John & Kyle. The Four Corpsmen! The artwork is outstanding. There’s some great pages in here. SWIPE if you wanna witness them in all their glory! ✌️👽

On this cover we have a plethora of super villains from the Spidey rogue’s gallery. I’m not sure why but as a kid I always thought Rocket Racer was kind of a cool villain. I think he had he had kind of a sad backstory. He was a budding science prodigy whose mom passed away so he was left to raise his 7 siblings. That was likely his motivation to become a criminal. If I’m not mistaken he was also kind of a good guy in some stories. The Beetle & Sandamn are just flat out classic SM villains. And then there’s Puma who looks so damn cool. I believe the baddies are maybe helping Spider-Man in this issue. The Avengers make an appearance as does She-Hulk. The real antagonists of the story are Kingpin and a couple other goofy bad guys Calculus and SPace Phantom. Space Phantom just looks like this weasely little imp LoL! Fun story tho & I dig the Buscema cover. ✌️👽

Viva-What the Hell is Going On? 🐍

I’m in the mood for a bit of 80’s metal on this lazy Sunday afternoon. This is a highly underrated album from the early 80’s that predates all the usual hair & sleaze rock bands that would become the flavor of the month later on. Viva were a German Heavy Metal/Hard Rock band that had among their members Barbara Schenker on Keyboards. Barbara was the younger sister of Michael & Rudolph Schenker of UFO & Scorpions fame. This is a killer heavy album. The band had all the ingredients for success. Great songs, apt musicianship, and a major label behind them. However I think the not so stable line-up that went thru many changes may have doomed them to languish in the bargain bin. I’m sure now they likely have a cult following and the album is sought after by record collectors. The music reminds me of Accept. Raw, Heavy, Sleazy vocals, pretty awesome guitars with haunting keyboards. Cool album and def worth picking up for any 80’s metal fan. ✌️👽

I have loved What If comics since I was like 11-12 yrs old! They didn’t come out that often and when they did I was all about em. I have a few classics and have picked later releases thru the years. This Cap issue is one of my favorites mostly because of the cover art & the interior artwork. What if books were the original alternate universe stuff way before there was a Multiverse. I had a helluva time choosing and almost posted more than one but I didnt wanna show more than my share. Maybe I’ll post more at another time. ✌️👽
