What does an architect, a cookie maker, and a music composer have in common?

Weโ€™ve worked with all three.

That said, we get asked this a lot.
So hereโ€™s the short answer.

We do our best work with:
โ€ข AEC firms
โ€ข Nonprofits and organizations
โ€ข B2B service providers

Thatโ€™s where we have the deepest experience and where weโ€™re most often brought in for full brand and website builds.

But weโ€™re not a one-lane agency.

If youโ€™re doing thoughtful, high-quality work and your brand or website no longer reflects that, thereโ€™s probably a way we can help.

And if youโ€™re not ready for a full build and just need help with a few odds and ends, thatโ€™s exactly what Tune-Up Tuesdays are for.

We get asked this a lot โ€”
โ€œBut what do you actually do?โ€

So hereโ€™s the โ€œmenu.โ€

Strategy, branding, websites, marketing, design, UX, social, photo/video, and SEO โ€” scoped intentionally based on where you are and where youโ€™re going.

Not sure what applies to you?
Thatโ€™s what Clarity Calls are for.

What does it look like to turn someone's story into a brand?

As our team worked with The Curious Child Co. to develop its brand, our first priority was telling the founder, and author, Madeline's story. Not just the story behind her new children's book, "Isn't That Fascinating?", but the personal inspiration that brought it to life.

Inspired by Madeline's passion for introducing children to different cultures and perspectives, we developed a visual identity that feels playful, adventurous, and deeply personal. Vibrant colors, expressive typography, custom illustrations, and unexpected details work together to reflect the curiosity at the heart of the brand.

We carried that same approach into the website, creating a welcoming space to introduce her book to new visitors. The new website guides visitors through the story and gives readers an easy way to purchase the new book. We also developed design assets to help carry the brand consistently beyond the website.

For us, good creative work starts with understanding what matters to the people we're creating for. It's what allows us to move beyond simply delivering a copy and paste project and build something that feels meaningful to the people behind the brand.

We're so excited to see The Curious Child Co. come to life, and even more excited to see "Isn't That Fascinating?" make its way into the hands of young readers! by @stratificreative

If you feel like you missed the AI memo, you're in good company. Most of the business owners we talk to feel the same way.

Here's the thing, though. It's moving so fast that showing up now really is enough to get started. You don't need five magic prompts. You just need to plug in.

If you want help figuring out where to start, the link to set up a clarity call is in our bio.

As a Creative Director, there are countless things that have influenced me in my 14 years of owning my own business. It's hard to narrow down a few books that have shaped me as a creative director and leader, but here's my short list of 6:

1. Building a Story Brand by Donald Miller
2. Dare to Lead by Breneฬ Brown
3. Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin
4. The Five Dysfunctions of a Team by Patrick Lencioni
5. Atomic Habits by James Clear
6. How to Win Friends & Influence People by Dale Carnegie

Project facts aren't the same thing as a project story. A finished building or project doesn't show your prospective client the hundreds of decisions, challenges, conversations, technical solutions, and collaboration that made the outcome possible.

The case study needs to communicate that.

Our client @yuacollab has a portfolio with layered storytelling structure, guiding their viewers from the need all the way through to the outcome. Each step draws a viewer through the project's story. Even though the exact structure does not need to be identical for every project, your portfolio should consistently communicate why your work matters, not just act as a pretty photo gallery. by @stratificreative

Imagine putting $1 into two different machines. One gives you $1 back. The other gives you $10. Which one are you going to keep feeding?

Marketing works the same way. If one channel is consistently performing and another keeps falling flat, put more time, energy, and resources into whatโ€™s already getting results.

Thatโ€™s why one of the first things we ask during kickoff calls with our clients is: Whatโ€™s working well right now? Because the goal isnโ€™t always to find something new. Sometimes, the smartest move is to double down on whatโ€™s already working.

What marketing channels are working best for you right now? Drop them in the comments. by @stratificreative

Recently a client was honest with us.

We asked them why they chose us instead of spending $1000 less to develop their website with a cheaper competitor. Process is important to our clients. When they feel as though their voice and input is making a meaningful difference in the design, we know we've done our job right. The produce is always going to look nice, it's our priority to make sure our clients are able to share their voice.

And that makes all the difference. by @stratificreative

AI Slop: how to make any creative cringe.

If youโ€™ve been to your local farmerโ€™s market or food court, itโ€™s likely youโ€™ve seen AI artwork. Posters, menus, banners, flyers, and social media graphics are now quickly produced by AI and plastered onto every surface. For many people, this is a quick marketing solution.

We call it โ€œAI Slop.โ€ Fast, generic AI developed visuals that succeed in completely filling a page with information, and thatโ€™s about it. Youโ€™ve likely recognized it, or even been guilty of using it for a quick solution to your marketing problems. From small businesses using AI to create their logos to family members using AI to create birthday invitations, it seems almost impossible to justify not using it. Because letโ€™s face it: the AI Slop doesnโ€™t look good, but it gets the job done.

But does it really?

Design is deciding what deserves someoneโ€™s attention and what doesnโ€™t. Itโ€™s knowing why thereโ€™s space around something instead of rushing to fill it. Itโ€™s creating a logo that works just as well in black and white as it does in color. Itโ€™s thinking about where something will be seen, who needs to see it, and what you actually want them to take away from it.

AI-generated design is quickly becoming the modern equivalent of using Comic Sans in a business email or putting neon pink WordArt in a PowerPoint presentation. When the easiest option starts to look like the easiest option, it stops making your business look tech-forward and starts making it look like you took a shortcut.

AI can fill the space. Design gives people a reason to care about whatโ€™s in it. by @stratificreative

One of the biggest differences between hiring a vendor and hiring a creative partner happens after your website goes live.

Recently, WordPress rolled out an update that changed where certain editing fields appear inside the dashboard. It wasn't a breaking change, but it was enough to catch clients off guard.
Rather than waiting for support requests to come in, we reached out first.

We emailed every effected client, explained exactly what was changing, and even recorded a short walkthrough video so they could keep editing their website with confidence.

That's the kind of partnership we believe in.

Because proactive support beats reactive troubleshooting every time. by @stratificreative
