It was a bit of a challenge to create something delicate while still covering and flowing with the preexisting tattoo (not by me), but i’m super happy with the results and would love to do more crown pieces like this! Over the years, what once started as a small protective dotwork tattoo behind the neck, has now turned into a full back piece for Riley! It’s been such a pleasure to work on this together and each session gives it so much new life! Created the concept for this piece a few months ago and finally got to bring it to life while in Puerto Rico with my tattoo sis @strawberrystabs ❣️We worked off of the large floral concept sketch I made as the base and then she added her ornamentals to bring it even more to life. It was such a joy getting to make this tattoo with you, to collaborate and share this artform together that we both love so much. She often travels back through San Diego and we would love to do more collaborations in the future (maybe in other parts of the world too?) What a strong spirit to be able to sit through a 5 hour session while being tattooed by two tattooers. Thank you for your trust in the vision, your courage and dedication. I also want to give thanks to this beautiful land belonging to the Taíno people. Forever in reverence to the spirits, waters and people that have welcomed me here.
