Last Saturday, we hosted the 17th Annual StreetSquash Cup! We're extremely thankful to those who took part in the event as a player, a fundraiser and/or a donor. The overwhelming support of the community helped us raise over $1.47 million in support of StreetSquash's day-to-day operations. ⁠

Representatives from 20 colleges came to StreetSquash to share details about life on their respective campuses with both StreetSquash participants and the wider Harlem community. Students also learned about the college application process and the deadlines to submit them. The colleges present were:⁠

Our Middle School Girls’ team secured a top-three finish at the 2026 SEA Team Nationals for the second year in a row! From dominant 5-0 sweeps to gritty five-game comebacks, these athletes showed incredible heart and "mental positivity" all weekend long.

We are so proud of all five StreetSquash teams who competed and left it all on the court.

Happy World Squash Day. Celebrate the sport today with a look at the champions of the StreetSquash Smash Cup.

The Smash Cup is an internal tournament held at the start of every season to determine the initial rankings and ladder for all participating students. It always sets the competitive tone for the year and showcases the incredible dedication of the students.

Congratulations to the winners featured in this montage and to everyone who gave it their all on the court to kick off the season.

Today is World Mental Health Day, a perfect time to highlight how StreetSquash makes mental health and wellness a core pillar of its programming. Normalizing the discussion around mental health is essential for helping youth feel comfortable talking about their feelings.

In a recent workshop, students explored this by participating in interactive activities like emotion and coping skill charades. The kids practiced self-reflection by identifying complex emotions and learned self-advocacy by using "I statements" to ask for support.

As 9-year-old Asherah shared, learning "calming things" helps students manage feeling frustrated or mad.

The StreetSquash 2026 College Fair is right around the corner. We are calling all New York City high schoolers and higher education institutions to join us for an evening of opportunity and connection. ⁠

We had a great time celebrating Women's Squash Week at StreetSquash earlier this week! Players of all ages and skill levels gathered at our Harlem facility to play, connect, and honor this year's theme: Her Court. Her Story.⁠
⁠
From beginners learning their very first swings with top female coaches to intermediate and advanced players running high-energy drills and match play, the energy on the courts was unmatched. Highlights of the night included our thrilling 1-Point Tournament, a special appearance by guest pro player and Nigeria's #1 women's squash player Busayo Olatunji, and a post-match gathering with pizza and wings.⁠

Thank you to every athlete, coach, volunteer, and supporter who joined us to empower women and girls both on and off the court. We are proud to celebrate the strength, resilience, and growth of our squash community. by @streetsquash
