I am proud to say that I am now the 2023 GPC under 125kg British Champion! 🏆 It was a grueling journey, but it was all worth it in the end. I proved to myself and others that with determination and perseverance, anything is possible.

The squat portion of the competition started off strong with a 300kg lift, but I faced a depth issue with my second attempt. However, I made the smart decision to play it safe and secure a solid 330kg lift and not risk missing 362.5kg. It was a reminder that sometimes it’s better to prioritize technique and execution over ego.

The bench press portion didn’t go as planned, I knew I was tired an fatigue and said it out loud. 262.5kg was loaded, I should have missed this lift it wasn’t part of my plan, especially coming into the comp with tightness issues in that area. unnecessary pressure was created and the plan went left. It was and is a very disappointing moment, after opening up on 220kg and then 250kg both with 3 white lights feeling as fatigued as I did I should have been more vocal and insisted on skipping the last lift selected for me.

The deadlift portion was the most challenging, both physically and mentally. Many people doubted my ability to continue with a torn extremely swollen pec, but quitting was never an option for me. I drew strength from my past accomplishments, waiting for two hours in pain, I finally learned that I only needed to pull 300kg to secure the win as I was 40kg ahead, With my torn pec, it was a daunting task, but I summoned every ounce of mental strength and determination within me. And against all odds, I successfully pulled a very easy 300kg deadlift to solidifying my victory. In the moments, I knew that I could have easily added more 60-75kg more even injured to add my Total but I was determined not to let my ego take over and chase a number that still wouldn’t determine how good I could be have been if I was just encouraged to do things my way. Powerlifting has been a great experience, a-lot training methods have been discussed but after all is said and done I still stand on specificity as supposed to one size fits all training methods. Untill next time ❤️ by @strength.overload
