You do not have to be retired and/or elderly to have a stroke. Anyone can have a stroke at any age, any time.

Navigating family life, work life, social life and achieving your hopes and dreams as a young stroke survivor is challenging but not impossible - especially with a support network of like-minded people 💪🏼 Strength After Stroke is a support network for stroke survivors of working age in South Wales.

We want to create a network that provides age appropriate support and opportunities, encourages peer mentoring and promotes an 'I can' attitude for stroke survivors that are of working age. Breaking barriors for what is possible to achieve after a stroke at a young age! It is a network FOR young survivors, LED BY young survivors.

Thank you for all the support since March when Strength After Stroke (SAS) started. Personally, it has been a tough year and as a result I've needed to put SAS on hold recently. But 2026 is a New Year 💪🏼 we have big plans.

Before Enrique (@the_stroke_warrior) had a Stroke in September 2023 he was an avid crossfitter. After 4 months at @cv_uhb Stroke Rehab Centre, University Hospital Llandough he was discharged.

Here is a snapshot of his 18 month journey returning to #crossfit from his very first session in February 2024 to now. It is worth noting that 2 years ago he could not walk! Enrique is a perfect example of persevere, resilience and determination. He continues doing what he loves, but adapts and does it HIS way! A big shout out to @crossfit.cardiff and @nicole_h_fitness who are incredibly supportive 💪🏼
