I typically don’t share these things on here as I am very vocal on my personal page but I want to make myself very clear across all platforms. We are all Jane Doe. These days it is more shocking to meet a woman who has not been sexually assaulted, than it is to meet one who has. I myself, am no stranger to violence against women. I have had my own experiences with SA and DV which is why I am so deeply connected to running and lifting. Physical activity provides an escape from the trauma that my brain replays. My mother was a victim for the majority of her childhood. I carry the heaviness of that devastation deep in my soul. It is repulsive that women spend their entire lives trying to protect themselves from rape; not being alone, not dressing a certain way, not drinking too much etc. But for all of this effort… it happens anyways. This is because men are the problem. It is not enough for men to simply *NOT* be a rapist. The supposed “good” men should be speaking out against their buddies, actively defending women, and publicly denouncing what has been happening to women since the beginning of time! But all I hear are crickets. I know that I am not the only woman who does not trust men. To be honest, I consider myself a misandrist, because the statistics do not lie. If you are raising sons I only hope that you are raising them with compassion, with an understanding of the world they are being born into, and what they can do to change that. While it is great that recent events have been a catalyst for these conversations, it is also important to realize that the victim of Cornell is a victim of privilege, and we are seeing this publicly because of her lawsuit. Most victims never come forward because the system is designed to fail them again and again. I have experienced this in my own life. Many victims do not have the financial or emotional support to withstand trial. While a woman’s life is forever changed, men continue to walk around free, oftentimes in positions of power. We need to dismantle the patriarchy. Women deserve so much more. The rage I feel for us all, is endless. I love, respect and support women, I cannot say the same for men. by @strengthbetweenmiles

Very pleased with my pace on today’s long run! Wanted to go for 7 but I was feeling pretty run down. Finally seeing consistent pace below 14 min is so fucking cool for me!!!! #run #runner #running by @strengthbetweenmiles

Damn y’all that last mile was really a push! Haven’t seen this distance since May and my legs are definitely tired. They were still sore from my Wednesday lift but since we are away this weekend, I still wanted to get it in. I am thinking of doing a half in December which I am super excited about!!! #halfmarathon #run #runningmotivation #runningcommunity by @strengthbetweenmiles

October is domestic violence awareness month and on my long run today I couldn’t help but think of the version of me that once existed 5 years ago. Running has become a safe place for my brain over these last few years. I am able to tuck myself neatly away while my legs rhythmically carry me for miles. While I will never truly escape what happened to me, I find solace in the peaceful moments where I can let my mind become truly empty. Every homicide on the news reminds me of how lucky I am. So many women are never given this luxury. If you or anyone you know is in danger, consider reaching out to 800.799.SAFE (7233) or visit thehotline.org. by @strengthbetweenmiles

I cannot believe I am so close to pacing in the 13’s for my long runs. Garmin clocked this as 13:59. When I first I started running I never would have never imagined this. While these numbers are still considered “slow” for most runners, for me it is a milestone that I am so grateful to be hitting. I will be looking to surpass my previous 10k best, and half marathon time this fall/winter. Cheers to the absolute best time of year!!! #run #runner #runningcommunity #runningmotivation by @strengthbetweenmiles

Soooo what’s everyone using to track their lifts??? I am notoriously inconsistent in documenting my weight training and I would love to know what works best for you! I cannot deal with writing stuff down anymore lol #lifting #womenwholift #liftheavyshit by @strengthbetweenmiles
