Portrait #001 complete: Al Pacino as Tony Montana from Scarface.

Al Pacino was the first name chosen to kick off this massive project. I chose this particular scene because the expression is classic Tony Montana 😂

Here are a few progress shots from sketch to finished portrait.

Now I need #002!

Comment a name below. Movies, music, TV, video games, sport… anyone goes.

Well… it’s been a long time, but I’m back! 🎨

And I’m starting with a pretty ridiculous project.

The plan is to completely fill this huge canvas with pop culture portraits chosen by you. Anyone from music, movies, TV, video games, iconic characters… basically anything goes.

The old drawing in the second photo gives you an idea of the montage style I’m going for, except this time it’ll all be painted in full colour using acrylics and oils.

Each portrait will be roughly A4 size, gradually building into one massive artwork.

Here’s where you come in:

The first person to comment a name gets the first portrait on the canvas.

Once that one is finished and I’m ready for the next, I’ll open it up again and take the first comment. Hopefully this keeps you involved and keeps me motivated 😂

This definitely won’t be a quick one. It could take months… realistically, probably a year or two.

I’ll also be taking custom commissions if anyone would like their own version. Smaller than this monster, of course 😂 You choose the size and the characters, and I’ll create a custom pop-culture montage for you.

Anyway, time to finally put some paint on this thing.

Work in progress ✍️

Building this piece layer by layer using graphite and white on toned paper.

Still pushing depth, contrast and texture — but this is where it’s sitting right now.
