Still coming down from the first night of the Extended Turntablism tour last night @the_rose_hill in Brighton.After a rapid fire set up in 2 hours and some serious technical malfunctions, New Zealand's @duplo.kit took to the stage for their UK debut and built their 3/4 polyrhythmic dub from multiple lathe cut locked grooves and assorted beats, bass and synths with @misledconvoy on the desk AND visuals. @furrowedsound followed with live lathe cutting and looping, smacking the deck for a kick drum sound and using a detachable cutting head at one point to tattoo his handheld fan's vibrations into the grooves. I don't have footage of Graham Dunning and myself playing yet but pounding acid grooves were the order of the day before football stopped play early. With 10 minutes to clear the stage we ripped everything apart and the last table was removed as the 3,2,1 Kick Off was broadcast!Thanks to everyone who came down for the music and everyone who stayed for the footy. Much love to the Rose Hill Tavern staff for all their hospitality. We do it all again this Friday night the 17th (without the football) at @holotronica's @synced_av night at Church House Studios, Long Ashton, Bristol with added @puttyrubber on visuals. It has to be said that, on the evidence on display at @a.r.c.london comic fair this weekend in Peckham, the small press, indie, self-publishing scene is in rude health.Meeting and chatting with creators and publishers is such a joy and buying direct from them leaves a good feeling (and also a dent in the wallet as you can see here). Not to say any of these are that expensive, some are less than the price of a pint or even a coffee. Just that there was so much good stuff on display, I could have gone home with twice this much.I'll miss some people no doubt but check out the work of @markstafford (sorry I didn't come back for the artwork, I'd spent WAY too much), the excellent @annareadman @geesinfraser (he did the Eno comic), the psychedelic @mirandasmart (who made a scroll comic you read along with a cassette tape), a revived @a1_deadline, Mick Jones' @rocknrollpl @krentable @undergroundkingdomcomix @__threesix, the fold out wonders from @colossivepress and the incredible paper engineering comics of @atpratt If you missed all this then @slczf (South London Comic and Zine Festival) is happening next weekend, see the flyer at the end.
