Circe Invidiosa by John William Waterhouse Latchhook Plush Painting

A jealous Circe poisons the water to turn Scylla into a
sea monster. In Greek mythology, Circe was known as
a goddess and sorcerer who would turn people into
animals. This piece is based on the second of three
paintings of Circe by Waterhouse.

16x36, 9216 pieces, patterned without automated
software. Available.

This piece was so difficult to photograph, and after a
week of trying, I still dont feel like I was able to
capture the details. Between the relentless rain, lack
of artificial light and sheer size, I haven't been able to
find a space that fits and has enough natural light
coming through to bring out the details.

I pulled this piece out of storage a few weeks ago, thinking I could remove some of the edge pieces and fit it into a frame. Maybe a 30 minute project. Turns out I spent multiple hours adding new shades, adjusting sections, and removing way more than I thought. But now if someone needs a portrait of David from the Lost Boys for a vampire themed tiki bar, this might be the perfect fit.

When I first moved to Ottawa, I applied for a job at Aritzia. They asked me who my style icon was, and I said Alice Cooper. Obviously, they never called. No regrets.
