ā€˜Red House Painters - Songs For a Blue Guitar’ original vintage shirt (1996)

I’ve been after a RHP shirt for years. I was lucky enough to find almost their entire back catalogue of first pressings on vinyl recently too and whilst I’d love a shirt from I/II or ocean beach, this is still a great design from Kozelek’s essentially first solo record, which is also not available on streaming.

As you probably know their shirts are as rare as rocking horse sh*t, so it’s good to box this one off.

In 1977, I Feel Love changed the trajectory of dance music. Giorgio Moroder’s sequenced Moog bass, Donna’s voice and that hypnotically repetitive electronic pulse sounded almost alien against the lush orchestral disco that surrounded it. It was a glimpse of the future.

From that moment, there’s a line running through electronic dance music: Hi-NRG, Italo, electro, Chicago house, Detroit techno and the endless generations of club music that followed. The machines, the repetition, so much of what became the language of the dancefloor starts here.

Before house. Before techno. Before the warehouse.

There was Donna Summer and I Feel Love.

And just landed is this incredible 1970s vintage Donna portrait tee, with a beautifully faded yellow body and graphic that feels every bit as futuristic now as the music did then.

Title Fight - Floral Green (2012 Pre-Order Exclusive) šŸŒæšŸ’«

14 years young, I think it’s fair to say Floral Green stands as one of the most important post-hardcore/shoegaze crossover records of its decade. Marking the defining shift in Title Fight’s sound—blending raw aggression with ethereal, heavy atmosphere.

Leaf has potentially my favourite hook of theirs and it takes me back to losing my shit when the played it at Outbreak years ago in Leeds. Who else was there?

The artwork printed on this shirt is the alt cover created by the late John Slaby. A hometown friend of the band, Slaby painted the visuals across Title Fight’s discography, shaping their visual world just as much as the music shaped the genre. Rest in peace, John. šŸ„€Ā

This forest green tee was an exclusive pre-order bonus available only with the original 2012 vinyl release. Features Slaby’s piece on the front and the outlined back hit.Ā

Rare to catch this shirt in this condition, hearing offers though I might need a collection photo snap first šŸ˜‚

ā›“ļøOG 90’S INDUSTRIAL T-SHIRT HAULā›“ļø

It’s been a while since I’ve had an original-owner haul like this and this might be one of the best yet.

Eight vintage late-’80s/early-’90s industrial T-shirts, plus a sweatshirt, from three titans of the scene: Nitzer Ebb, Front 242 and Sheep on Drugs.

Industrial from this era remains somewhat overlooked in my opinion and these designs represent a moment when punk, electronics, EBM and industrial were colliding and evolving in the years after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Nine Inch Nails gets rightly worshipped in vintage circles, but there’s a much bigger story here. Front 242 and Nitzer Ebb were already laying the groundwork, taking this music into huge venues and a new era. If you’ve seen Electronic Body Movie, you’ll know the world I mean.

Best of all, these came directly from a sound engineer who worked with the bands during this period, including their tours of huge venues like Alexandra Palace. So these aren’t just old T-shirts they have a genuine connection to the scene they came from.

A few are staying in the collection, but the others will be available.

āš”ļøDFA records appreciation post āš”ļø

I remember discovering DFA around 2006 and it being one of the most life changing discoveries of my life. All of a sudden the punk energy I loved, didn’t feel so out of place alongside the pulsing electroclash sound I’d been discovering. Alongside Ed Banger, Kitsune and many others they became the soundtrack to my whole life and some of the best parties ever (shout out James Murphy and Pat Mahoney playing B2B in a swanky oriental restaurant in Liverpool that burned down not long after through insurance fraud)

They knew how to brand themselves too, I spent years meeting people with that wonky lightning bolt tattooed on them and gassing each other up about the James/Pat fabric CD, or whatever mad stories came out about their wild NY office that week…

Anyway DFA is/was(?) so much more than just LCD, their curation brought together the most credible indie meets dance roster in the world, from the mind-bending techno of Syclops to the shimmering cracked disco ball punk of The Juan Maclean, the catalogue is absolutely brimming with the unexpected.

Anyway, here’s a couple of shirts from that absolutely unstoppable era, right featuring the iconic logo and left with a flip of that but featuring all of their recent artists (swipe to see). Naturally on American Apparel tags, my actual employer during this heady period.

Also included is a flick through the LCD book ā€˜LCD’ from 2012 by Ruvan Wijesooriya which I just acquired a first edition of and some photography by Tim Soter of the early years of DFA.

Ed Banger Records Collection šŸŽØ

Hard to put into words just how transformative this label was to my life in the mid 2000s, it truly felt like the most punk version of dance music, fully DIY and with such a unique aesthetic, driven by the crazy graphics of designer So-Me and Busy P’s spectacular A&R taste

I’ve been collecting some of these for a while now, having sold a few of my original collection a while back

If you swipe to the end you’ll see OG photography of me with DJ Mehdi in 2007 with my cousin, Mehdi was sadly taken in an unfortunate accident a few years later but his music still remains his incredible legacy, included in the photo is a mehdi forever tribute tee

Also included are snaps of me wearing one of the SebastiAn shirts back in the day and also some shots of the because music 100% coton exhibition the other year when the vast array of shirts they created were exhibited, you can see some of these shirts in the photography

Also threw in a Major Lazer shirt, because why not 🄲
