Rome is my hometown. My father ran Temple's study abroad campus there for 25 years and I went to Italian school from the age of eight — so this is the list I send friends, not a guidebook.

1. Cacio e pepe at Da Enzo, Trastevere
2. The table at Da Baffetto
3. Behind the counter at Baffetto — still the best pizza in Rome
4. La Montecarlo on Vicolo Savelli
5. Frigidarium, dipped in dark chocolate
6. Trastevere, again

Just updated for August 2026 with four new spots in Testaccio, where Romans actually eat: Piatto Romano, Pizzeria Nuovo Mondo, Bar Giolitti on Via Amerigo Vespucci, and Piazza Testaccio, where the kids play soccer at night while the adults have an aperitivo.

All 19 places, with a map — link in bio.

Did you know Italy's driving theory exam hasn't been offered in English since 2011? And the US has no license reciprocity with Italy — Americans who move there take the same 30-question exam as every Italian 18-year-old, in Italian, where nearly 40% of candidates fail.

We just launched a free practice version: 30 true/false questions drawn from a 90-question bank, a 20-minute timer, max 3 errors — every question in English and in authentic exam Italian, with the rules explained after every attempt. Pass and you earn your (very unofficial) Patente di Pratica. 🇮🇹🚗

The World Cup is in LA, and you don't need a ticket to be part of it.

All summer the city is throwing free watch parties in neighborhood parks, 19 of them, from Echo Park Lake to MacArthur Park, plus fan zones at Union Station and 15+ Metro stations. No tickets, no registration. Just bring a chair.

We mapped out every match and the free LA City watch party showing it, day by day. Full guide: https://strommeninc.com/world-cup-2026-los-angeles-events-watch-parties-fan-zones/

SoFi Stadium gets 8 World Cup matches between now and July 10. The only question left is where you're watching.

Swipe for the full SoFi schedule plus six LA bars that take their soccer seriously:

⚽️ @silverlakeunited (Silver Lake) for the all-nations crowd
🍺 @n17thelane (Mar Vista) for Westside watch parties
👑 @yeoldekingshead (Santa Monica), a proper British pub since 1974
🐾 @thegreyhoundbarandgrill (Highland Park), home of LA's Tottenham faithful
🍻 @redliontavern (Silver Lake) for liter steins in the beer garden
📺 @toms_losangeles (L.A. Live) when you want every match on 150+ screens

And if a bar erupting in Portuguese, German, and Spanish makes you want in on the conversation, that's kind of our whole thing.

Your move:
🌍 Drop your team's flag in the comments
👥 Tag your match-day crew
🔖 Save this so you know where to be
