I’m so grateful for all of @bloodcancerunited’s attention on pediatric cancers. With them, I’ve been able to go to DC and fight for better policies, learn about the global clinical trials they are implementing for childhood cancer researchers and connect families like mine to their resources like clinical trial coordinators and scholarships. Over the next four weeks, I’m focusing on helping @bloodcancerunited meet their $175 million goal with my own $5,000 goal. Will you help us Dare to Dream for a world of better, safer cancer treatments for kiddos all over the world by donating or sharing today? Link to donate is in our bio and stories. Message me if you have any questions. #childhoodcancer #fightlikeakid #cancersucks #kidsgetcancertoo by @strong.like.spidey

Guys, WE DID IT. This afternoon, Congress passed the Accelerating Kids’ Access to Care Act and the Give Kids a Chance Act!!This means continued funding for our pediatric cancer research bills, increased NIH funding, increased incentives for businesses to engage in pediatric cancer research trials and policy changes to enhance care for kids fighting life threatening illness. Thank you to every person that ever called or emailed your representatives or shared the advocacy info we’ve posted. Y’all did this together. Keep fighting for our babies. šŸŽ—ļø#childhoodcancer #advocacy #fightlikeakid #wedaretodream4kids by @strong.like.spidey

When I became a cancer parent, I recall many people who told me how successful childhood cancer research is. But these numbers don’t feel like success to me. I’m so grateful for where treatment is today vs. 30 years ago, but I hope for a day in 30 years when current protocols and drugs are ways of the past. Any large-scale social improvements have always started with getting more voices to speak up about the issues, so keep spreading this information to show others why they should be talking about the childhood cancer crisis. šŸ“–Sources: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30824204/https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6425479/#:~:text=Over%2080%25%20of%20childhood%2Fadolescent,to%2020%20years%20of%20age. #childhoodcancer #caregivers #advocacy #charity #kidsgetcancertoo #healthcrisis #fightlikeakid #cancersucks #cancerwarriors #Medicine #leukemia #cancelbloodcancer #wedare2dream4kids #doctors #momsofinstagram #healthsystems #insurance #awareness #cancersymptoms by @strong.like.spidey

Introducing our Dare to Dream Honored Hero, Charlie. ā¤ļøCharlie was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the age of 2. After 2.5 years of chemotherapy, he rang the bell and is now making friends in Kindergarten, playing on a community soccer team, and learning how to read. Throughout the difficult days of treatment, he often told his parents that Spider-Man was in his port fighting off the "cancer bad guys" and that's why he was so strong. Charlie's experience reminds us why we dare to dream of a future with safer treatments, stronger support, and real hope for kids with blood cancer.Your donation will go directly toward The Dare to Dream Project, helping transform treatment and care for kids and families. 🫶Give today at the šŸ”— in bio. 🫶 by @strong.like.spidey

This week, my fundraising team hit $5,930 of our $10k goal… BUTthere is only 1.5 weeks left to help with @bloodcancerunited’s dare to dream fundraiser where 100% of proceeds go towards pediatric cancer research, resources and advocacy. Will you help me even if it’s a small amount by donating directly to my team page and sharing this post with/tagging someone who you think would support this important cause? Thank you all so much for always being showing up for our tiniest warriors. šŸŽ—ļø#childhoodcancer #cancersurvivor #fightlikeakid #fundraising by @strong.like.spidey

As I was scrolling through my Google Photos recently, I was struck by the first photo in this post.During Charlie’s treatment, this position became so normal as he battled relentless stomach aches and nausea that I could probably find dozens of photos just like this—same position, same couch. But there’s something beautiful about this photo too. Even in the middle of all of it, you can still see that something inside him wants so badly to live life like a normal kid as he reaches out to touch the ball. With kids fighting cancer, that spirit of play and joy never really disappears. It’s still there—just buried beneath toxic chemicals, endless side effects, and traumatic hospital experiences. In the second photo, I vividly remember Charlie watching while other kids played at the beach—knowing he couldn’t keep up as his body processed his daily chemo in spite of sand, sun and water being something most kids come alive for. And the last photo makes me think about how kids fill their summer days with popsicles in the sunshine, but Charlie’s childhood memories of popsicles will include hospital beds and needles. This is exactly why I continue pushing for childhood cancer research and speaking about the many unseen impacts of childhood cancer. I am endlessly grateful that my son is alive after 2½ years of treatment. But I’m also constantly reminded of the pieces of his childhood that were taken from him in order to save his life.✨Is it too much to dream of a world where kids just get to be kids?āœØšŸŽ—ļøI need your help reaching my $5,000 goal for childhood cancer research by April 20. If just 200 people from our 28k followers donated $25, we would hit that goal quickly—and help give future kids more of their childhood back.āž”ļøIf you’re able to give, the link is in my bio. If you’re in Colorado, you have to check out one of the cutest little shops in @dtcastlerock: @petalsandpop.co! Grab some cute gifts, gorgeous flowers and then if you haven’t been able to experience the hype of Utah-famous dirty sodas, this is a perfect chance to cool off with one with our unusually warm spring weather in the Rocky Mountain region. We are so grateful for their support of this important Dare to Dream project for pediatric cancers. 230 3rd street #180 Castle Rock, Colorado#childhoodcancer #fundraising #giveback #fightlikeakid by @strong.like.spidey

I don’t think most people realize just how toxic chemotherapy can be—especially for a young, developing body. And the reality is, pediatric cancers don’t always get the research attention they deserve because they’re more rare. From a business standpoint, it’s just not as profitable. But our kids deserve more than what’s ā€œprofitable.ā€That’s why I’m so grateful that @bloodcancerunited has dedicated an entire month to fundraising specifically for pediatric cancer—supporting research, clinical trials, resources, and policy change. On a recent call, the Dare to Dream director said something that stuck with me: ā€œIf not us, then who?ā€So I’ll ask you the same thing—if we don’t fight for better answers for our kids, who will?I’m putting together a fundraising team for the Dare to Dream month starting Monday, and I would truly love for you to be part of it. You can find the link to register in my stories—just search for my team ā€œStrong Like Spidey.ā€When you join, you’ll automatically be entered into a gift card giveaway, and there will be more fun incentives throughout the month šŸ’›Message me if you have any questions—let’s help kids Dare to Dream together. #childhoodcancerawareness #fightlikeakid #fundraising by @strong.like.spidey

For those of you in the trenches of this dark cancer journey, I need you to know that there are thousands of generous, determined people fighting alongside you with their fundraising efforts and donations to fix this nightmare. Even if progress is slow and even if it sometimes feels like we are shouting into an abyss for more awareness and attention for our kids, there are so many amazing people who care and are doing things to create change. I was so grateful to celebrate the Denver student visionaries for their over half a million contribution to the work that runs clinical trials, provides resources and supports advocacy for patients fighting cancer. These phenomenal young leaders reignited my spirits to do more and fight harder for our children. šŸŽ—ļø#childhoodcancer #fightlikeakid #fundraising #advocacy #awareness by @strong.like.spidey

I know sharing a child’s cancer journey publicly can be a controversial topic, and honestly, I understand why.But when my family experienced childhood cancer firsthand, I saw just how devastating this disease really is—not just for the child, but for the entire family. The fear, the burnout, the isolation… it changes you.One of the reasons I chose to share our story on social media was because I wanted to turn that pain into something meaningful. If awareness leads to more people caring, and caring leads to more research funding, then sharing our story matters. That passion is what led me to continue advocating for kids fighting cancer.March 23-April 20 is @bloodcancerunited’s Dare to Dream Days, and I’m building a team to help raise awareness and support childhood cancer research through this program. You don’t need a huge following, and you don’t need to raise thousands of dollars. Even raising $50 can help provide resources and support for families facing the unimaginable. If you’d be interested in joining my fundraising efforts or learning more about this pediatric cancer initiative, comment or send me a message. Our kids need our voices. šŸŽ—ļø#fightlikeakid #childhoodcancer #giveback by @strong.like.spidey

Lately, it feels like I’m living a storyline I never would have chosen for myself—with plot twists I actively wanted to avoid for my own children.Childhood cancer has a way of rewriting everything.I can’t go back and change those chapters of my life, but I can work to help write better futures for the families who come after us.This was the first year in three years that I wasn’t in D.C. for Childhood Cancer Action Days, and I’m so grateful for the advocates and organizations like @bloodcancerunited and @stbaldricks who were there continuing the fight at the national level.Fortunately, I was still able to spend time at the Denver Capitol advocating for kids with my @bcutd_rockymountain advocacy team, which partners with the Colorado Chronic Disease Alliance. If you’d like to help rewrite the story for future families, send me a message and I’ll get you connected. I’ll also be sharing more about ways to get involved in this work next week, so stay tuned!šŸ’›šŸŽ—ļø#fightlikeakid #childhoodcancer #advocacy by @strong.like.spidey

Charlie came down with a virus this week, and through it all, he curled up into my arms for comfort.During his treatment, I was haunted by the thought that he might resent me—how could he understand that the choices we made, confusing and painful as they were, were essential? How could a toddler differentiate between abuse and life-saving treatment? And yet… despite his limited understanding, Charlie and I now have a relationship that is quietly, fiercely beautiful. I am his safe place, even though he spent years of treatment telling me he wanted to hurt me and that he hated me. Even through fear, even through confusion, we built something unshakable.I wish someone had shown me back then that the experiences that felt impossible in the moment could become the foundation of love, trust, and closeness. To every parent still carrying that heavy weight: I need you to know that your child will remember the arms that never let go.#childhoodcancer #fightlikeakid #cancersurvivor #caregiver by @strong.like.spidey
