A little bit about me…

I’m a wife, a mother of a 4 year old and 2 year old and I’m passionate about lifting and helping other mothers feel strong.

I’ve trained on and off for 8 years with seasons of consistency and seasons where I completely fell off.

Motherhood has tested me in ways I didn’t expect: sleep deprivation, chaos, less time, less energy… and at times, less confidence.

After my second baby, it took me 10 months to start training again. But this time has been different. I am working with a coach @k.kempster (a total game changer), stopped chasing “perfect,” and have built a routine that works around my kids.

I train because it makes me feel strong, confident, and honestly, like a better mother.

Recently, other mothers have been telling me that I inspire them, and that means the world to me.

My husband said, “Why don’t you create a page that helps other mothers do the same?”

So here we are.

This space is for mothers (and women in general) who:
• Want to lift and fuel their bodies
• Want strength, both physically and mentally
• Want something that’s theirs in the middle of the chaos of motherhood by @strongherco

Strength training has changed me, both inside and out.

This is a hard post to write, but here we go………

As you can see, my shape has changed.
My widest part used to be my hips — now it’s my shoulders.

Growing up, I hated my hips and legs. I only wore clothes that hid my body. I refused to wear anything tight or above my knee, not even around the house.

That led to my first diet at 18 years old. I restricted myself to 1,000 calories a day and became obsessed with the scales. The number on the scale dictated my mood and my self-worth. If it wasn’t what I wanted to see, I was utterly miserable.

I would reach my “goal weight” (at times very underweight, example: 54kg) and still be unhappy. Then I would start bingeing and gain all the weight back, and more. This cycle repeated for 20 years.

I was so ashamed of my body and my poor relationship with food that social events were stressful. Sometimes I would avoid them altogether, especially if I had gained weight after a bingeing period following extreme restriction.

The shame was debilitating. I did everything in my power to hide it.

It has taken a long time and many setbacks but I have finally freed myself from disordered eating and hating my body. Strength training, and learning how to fuel my body to support it, is what changed everything.

I never thought I would get to this point in my life. But here we are.

Now….

I wear tight-fitting clothes.
I wear shorts as much as I can.
I feel confident and proud in social settings.
I have a healthy relationship with food, no more restriction and binge cycles.
And I’m no longer obsessed with the scales.

Now I celebrate my strength.
I celebrate my body.

And for the first time in my life… I love what I see in the mirror.

Your hormones affect your strength, recovery, sleep, & appetite. Some days you’ll hit PRs with ease. Other days the exact same weight can feel glued to the floor.

The more you understand your menstrual cycle & hormonal fluctuations, the better you can train with your body instead of constantly fighting against it.

Strength isn’t just built under the bar. It’s built through knowledge, consistency, & knowing when to push & when to recover. by @strongherco
