Vulnerable Moment. This is my first snatch attempt since 2022. My last memory of performing this lift was during a barbell warmup when my pregnant belly got in my way and rather than adjusting my pull, I decided to shelf the movement….for an unplanned TWO YEARS. I don’t know why I haven’t been willing to do this lift again. Maybe it’s because my ego doesn’t want to know what my new limitations are strength wise as they relate to this lift. But as my SuperMom friend @lisaguadzuka said, I just needed to rip the bandaid. My postpartum fitness journey has been far from what I expected. I imagined I’d have more time, more sleep, a calmer kid, more willingness to just get up and do it. Instead Ive found myself choosing everything else but the gym time and time again. I’ve been through tons of “fitness journeys” in my life. A bodybuilding journey, a CrossFit journey, a yoga journey. This journey, to just be well as a mother, has been the TOUGHEST for me by far. My fitness posts, or lack there of, are evident of that. Simply put, I haven’t posted, cus I haven’t been working. So this is me trying to start again. The goals are different, the why’s are different, but I’m still me. Just Crystal trying to be strong not skinny and hopefully motivating others along the way. 🤍 Bandaid Ripped by @stronglikecrystal
Almost one whole year of retracing steps while paving a new path of who I am as this strong fit mama. Movement is a part of our lifestyle, and even on the days I’d rather do nothing, exercise, both alone and with my new workout partner, has been our saving grace. I’ll be honest, this journey was accompanied by a lot of fear, distrust in my body, and anger with myself for not progressing faster. Regaining confidence in myself has been a lot of sweat, tears, and letting go of the tremendous amount of expectations I placed on myself. The last twelve months of my PP fitness journey have felt like an uphill battle a lot of the way. I know this isn’t true for everybody, but for all the mamas still lost in the fog, not sure where your old self went, she’s in there. You’re still in there. If I can give any first time moms out there unsolicited words of encouragement, absolutely love yourself first. Love yourself exactly where you are, not where you were, and not the fantasy of who you’re supposed to be. Love all of yourself that you are today. Cheers to twelve long messy sweaty months of (sometimes) fitness and learning to love the new me. by @stronglikecrystal
Never did I imagine you would inspire me the way you have sweet girl. 💕 In the last few years I’ve been lucky enough to get to know and grow with @laneybotz & @porrasjulie and boy have we come a long way! Thank you for allowing me to be part of your journey! There is no doubt in my mind Elena has a great full life of adventures ahead. 📸: @houstonlifetv #adaptwell #bemoreadaptive #houstontrainer #htx #adaptvmvmtpro #igotnervous #notfamous #liferollson by @stronglikecrystal
There’s so much push and pull when it comes to what is okay in the world of prenatal exercise, and the answer is different for everybody. Entering the prenatal exercise journey, I was absolutely no expert in what my new limits were supposed to be, but I will say the resources are out there. The rules are changing. They are more realistic and supportive to what active womens fitness capabilities actually are. by @stronglikecrystal

12 months sure did fly by faster than I could keep up with the monthly celebratory photo announcements! One year ago today you decided you were coming on your own terms at your own time and life has continue to roll that way since. Ace you are a firecracker with the strongest pats and the best acting skills in the house. You think no is a suggestion, you adore your big sister, and when food is involved everybody must get out of your way or face the accidental finger chomp. Iykyk You’re the perfect balance to Aiyana’s sweetness and so far proved the second child myths may in fact be truths. Happy first birthday Ace Elijah! We love you to outer space by @stronglikecrystal
In a world full of checking off to do lists, racing to drop the kids off at their next activity, counting steps and tracking calories burned, how often do you let yourself pause, rest and just breathe? It’s harder than it sounds, but so important and so worth it. Unplug with me every Tuesday at LTF Cypress. No equipment necessary except your body and your breath. Surrender, Roll & Recover Tuesday’s at 10:15a Reserve in the LT app by @stronglikecrystal
