🥊 Learn to Wrap Your Hands the Right Way

Whether you’re stepping into your first boxing class or getting ready for hard rounds on the heavy bag, proper hand wraps are one of the most important pieces of equipment you have. Coach @derekgreene95 walks you through the right way to protect your hands and wrists before every workout.

Quick Hand Wrapping Tips:
✔️ Protect your knuckles with even layers—not bulky ones.
✔️ Lock in your wrist for added stability and power.
✔️ Wrap each finger to help reduce movement and improve support.
✔️ Keep your wrap snug, but never so tight that your fingers tingle or lose circulation.
✔️ Always finish by making a fist to make sure everything feels secure before you train.

A few extra minutes wrapping your hands can save you from weeks of injury.

Today we had a great meeting at Strong Style with the Cleveland Council on World Affairs and combat sports representatives from around the world, including Estonia, Vietnam, the Solomon Islands, Kenya, Kuwait, Romania, Ukraine, and Tunisia.

It’s always great hearing Marcus share the history of combat sports in Ohio and the evolution of MMA over the years.

What I enjoyed most was the opportunity to exchange ideas, learn about different cultures, and hear how combat sports are taught, developed, and embraced in other parts of the world.

Despite coming from different countries and backgrounds, it’s pretty cool to see how something like combat sports can bring people together.

Grateful for the opportunity to connect with everyone today!

We’re holding tryouts for athletes interested in joining the Strong Style Boxing Team.

Requirements:
• Minimum 6 months of boxing experience or coaches’ discretion
• Come prepared to train and be evaluated
• Bring your gloves, wraps, mouthpiece, and appropriate training gear
• Arrive early and ready to work

Coaches will be evaluating technique, conditioning, coachability, work ethic, composure, and overall readiness for the team.

Making the team is not guaranteed. We’re looking for athletes who are serious about improving, competing, and representing Strong Style the right way.

Team @strongstyle_mma did what we do on Friday night at @f2wbjj . We came, we saw, we conquered. 13-4 on the night, dominant performances at all levels. Scroll to learn about each of our wins.

Shout outs to @ridealongwithalex, @offthewalljiujitsu, @derekgreene95, @rickythegrappler, @jesse_murray_ and @ameer_aldarraji as well as our general Marcus Marinelli for helping make sure everyone was well cornered and to @markanthonydevito for bringing his table and plying his @imwscle craft to get us all loosened up and ready.

@jake_canitano started us off with a dominant win. He got on top, took the back and got it done with a tight rnc. He's one of my lightest weight students but honestly the guy's an absolute menace.

Young @landonbrynak entered this event as his first ever jiu-jitsu match. He's been at it with us for a while and is one of the tougher white belts in the room so after brief discussion we opted to let him throw his name in the hat for this event. I'm glad we did because he got out there and dominated. He had a beautiful path to a triangle armbar win

@s_barker0331 is a strength coach at the gym and is pretty dedicated to jiu-jitsu. He has only competed in jiu-jitsu one time but did pretty well. In Friday night he went out there and had a superb performance. Initially the match was pretty even but when his opponent took him down he secured a guillotine and got the finish from mount

Young @giovannicarrbjj is one of my stars. He's been at this for a bit over 2 years and is one of my top students. He competes the most out of everyone on the team and can probably beat anyone his age and weight in the region... his opponent, however, was a good bit heavier and though younger by a bit was the more experienced competitor with around 170 wins in competition. Giovanni outmaneuvered him and despite leglocks being illegal in the match used his advanced leg entanglements to turn the tides after a rocky start. As a coach I couldn't be prouder.
