Join us tonight at 7 pm for the first evensong of the feast of Catherine of Siena! Although Catherine's many accomplishments included telling off the Pope, they did not include music. However, we will sing "Love Divine" by Bianco di Siena, and settings of texts by another Tuscan mystic, Maria Magdalena de'Pazzi.

Thursday Update Part 01:
City crews are back in the churchyard, but this time they are there to remove some of the blocks they installed on Tuesday, thanks to many complaints about the health of the trees.
This is more proof that trees are more important than poor people, but nevertheless it is a small win. If anyone wants to come and take photos of this impressive piece of interdepartmental coordination, feel free, but we are not opposing or protesting this.
Part 02:
Some blocks have been left, apparently for purely symbolic reasons. The burnt tree seems to have been written off, though the arborist who came in August thought it could recover. But as the City staffer supervising the operation said, "This is today's plan, who knows about tomorrow ..."

You can't keep Kensington Market down ... We had a false alarm this afternoon with trucks assembling along College Street. It turned out to be a bike lane thing.

This is what a pollinator garden looks like, I guess?
Today, police officers, acting at the request of the City's Department of Transportation, physically removed the priest of the church (along with others) from the south side of the land which has been treated as the churchyard for 150 years, so that Transportation could cover it with large concrete blocks, protected by a fence.
The north side of the yard is still inhabited by two people. We do not know how long they will be allowed to remain. Four other people are currently living on what is indisputably church property.
Many people are phoning 311 to express concern for the trees. We encourage all our friends to do so.

Many, many thanks to Ozery Bakery! Since we've been unable to find a donor for bread for our Saturday breakfast, they have stepped up to double their donation! Bread for all our sandwiches for the weekends now covered.
Please give them your business as you can, and watch for the opening of their new restaurant on Augusta, hopefully in June ...
