i first picked up a basketball in the 3rd grade. at the time it was just a ball in my hands and a game that i loved to play. i had no idea that the moment i picked up that ball would turn into a journey that would take me places some people can only dream of. i didn’t know the game would bless me with opportunities, experiences, and relationships that would shape my entire life.

there were so many days along the way where it felt impossible to imagine that i would be standing where i am today. the early mornings, the long practices, the sacrifices, the ups and the downs, and the moments where i questioned if i was really good enough. but through every challenge, every doubt, and every obstacle, i was never alone.

my mom, my gramma, and my little sister have been supporting me since the very beginning. my mom sacrificed so much of her own life just to make sure i could live out my dream. i’ll never forget the days she would leave work early just to make sure i was on time to practice. she gave up so much so that i could have opportunities she knew could change my life. because of her sacrifices, i was able to play at one of the most prestigious high schools in Missouri and be a part of something so special at Incarnate Word Academy. being apart of that was truly a blessing and something that helped shape me into the person and player i am today.

i worked so hard to put myself in positions to have opportunities in life, and that journey eventually led me to the university of kentucky. my freshman year was one of the toughest seasons of my life. mentally i was completely down and there were moments where i felt lost. but i refused to let that define me. i worked harder than ever because i knew i didn’t want to be in that same position again. my sophomore year i regained my confidence and it finally felt like i had found my old self again.

but life isn't always how you paint it to be. my junior year brought a coaching change, and with that came learning a completely new system and, in many ways, learning myself all over again. there were moments where i struggled and didn't believe in myself the way i should have. As athletes, we spend years investing in our game, but I never realized there were ways to use those skills beyond competing. Discovering Her Playbook opened my eyes to new opportunities and showed me how to turn my experience into something bigger.
