As you hear in Alejandra’s story, scholarship support has allowed her to focus on her education, fully embrace campus life, and ease a financial burden for her family. But she’s not alone. Every scholarship recipient has a story of opportunity made possible by generous supporters.

While Two Saints and a Taco Tasting is a night of great food and tradition, its true purpose is creating life-changing opportunities for students like her.

Together, we’re changing lives, one taco at a time. 🌮❤️

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of Fr. Janusz Ihnatowicz.

Fr. Janusz was a professor in the theology department from 1969 to 1997. He is an award-winning poet and theologian. He celebrated Mass in the Chapel of St. Basil frequently until 2023. During his years at the university, he became a great friend to the Basilian Fathers. He also contributed to the building of the Chapel of St. Basil.

Fr. Janusz taught generations of students at the University of St. Thomas.

His funeral arrangements are currently in the planning stage.

Please pray for the repose of Fr. Janusz’s soul.

——

Prayer for Eternal Rest (The Requiem Prayer)

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Requiem aeternam dona ei, Domine.
Et lux perpetua luceat ei.
Fidelium animae, per misericordiam Dei,
requiescant in pace. Amen. by @stthomashouston

Today, we hosted Feasting with the Saints, reflecting on the life and legacy of St. Francis, whose feast day was yesterday. We had a dramatic reading from Dante’s Paradiso (Canto XI) where St. Thomas Aquinas offered his celebrated encomium of St. Francis of Assisi—one of the most eloquent testimonies to the saint’s enduring legacy in the medieval literary tradition.

Following Mass in the Chapel of St. Basil, we had a feast! Campus Ministry hosted our community for a medieval Italian meal - both delicious and insightful, reflecting on this special saint.

We continue to celebrate St. Francis in this jubilee year!
