A little while back I had the pleasure of collaborating with the lovely folks over at @moonrakervfx on the new BBC Natural History series #Evolution. There’s still 2 episodes to air, but here’s a little selection of some of the timelapse style clips I worked on so far.

The brief was to show, through motion graphics, vast periods of time as fins turned to hands, eggs shells became hard, gills formed and many more amazing transformations that have occurred through millions of years of evolution.

Make sure you watch the show, it’s pretty amazing. Hats off to all the talented folks that made it possible!

How did I make this!?

It's been a busy year for conference graphics. One of my jobs required 3 looping pieces of motion themed around People, Agent and Speed. As promised, here's the 2nd process breakdown for 'People'. There's also a little snippet in here on creating loops to work with. I’m planning to create a more in depth series on crafting loops in the future.

It might look complicated, but at its root it's quite simple.

Apologies, I keep saying turbulence noise here but what I'm talking about is Fractal noise!

I’ve been working on a lot of conference graphics this year. One the jobs required 3 looping pieces of motion, the themes for these were Agent, People & Speed. I was so happy with the outcome for these that I’ve decided to create a few tutorials explaining the process of how they came about. This is the one for Agent, there’s a big demand to explain ‘Agentic’ right now.

They might look complicated, but at their root they’re actually quite simple. I love working in this way, creating basic shapes and simple motion which you build upon until you have a final piece. The great thing about working this way is it’s easy to iterate and create big changes to the final composition with small alterations to the root assets.

Amazing to see they’ve installed a new DOOH board above #turboisland on Stokes Croft! Can’t believe the fire department has taken out a space on it. Bit on the nose but I guess it’s all about finding the right audience for your message.

I had an idea for framing my #collages but it does mean these are transient #compositions. I like the limitations presented by not only the framing but also not working on a computer.
