Pretty sure this wasn't the HOA meeting, but everyone was so nice I decided to stay. 🎀🥂 Somehow ended up on a red carpet in Houston, surrounded by beautiful people, questionable amounts of pink, and a genuinely good cause. Big thanks to @babesintoylandcharity and @paradisebeautyintl for an incredible Pink Party at @juliet.htx, supporting @hertoo_nonprofit and breast cancer awareness. 💗 Turns out I was slightly overdressed for the neighborhood budget discussion. 💙 #BabesInToyland #PinkParty #BreastCancerAwareness by @stuart.in.austin
Met Rick Soto when he was a pharmaceutical rep with a dream. Today I’m sitting in his shop, wearing the suit he made, surrounded by the proof: athletes, sportscasters, movie stars, jerseys, photos, stories, and Austin energy everywhere. The suit is sharp. The socks are unserious. The smile is because I got to watch a man build the thing he said he was going to build. Respect, @sotoandco by @stuart.in.austin
They said wear pink. I brought a tie and hoped for the best. 🎀 #breastcancermonth by @stuart.in.austin

Cildo Meireles, Missão/Missões (How to Build Cathedrals). 600,000 coins. 800 communion wafers. 2,000 cattle bones. Material power. Spiritual power. Human cost. I do not pretend this history is mine in the same way it belongs to Brazil and to the Indigenous people whose lives sit underneath this work. But some of the symbols are familiar to me. I was raised with Jesuit ideals close to the center of my moral vocabulary: discipline, service, education, conscience, and the obligation to examine yourself honestly. Standing here, the harder truth sits there too: beautiful ideals have often traveled with violence, conquest, forced conversion, and the machinery of empire. That tension is not abstract when you were raised to respect the symbols. This one stayed with me. Placard on the final slide. by @stuart.in.austin
