If it exists in nature, it won’t date. The combinations that feel right are already around us: in landscapes, natural materials, and the quiet contrasts shaped by time. For this study, I explored three nature-inspired pairings: • Warm clay tones + velvet • Soft moss + dark timber • Fig + sun-faded linen Each balances warmth with depth, softness with structure. The same qualities that make a space feel grounded, calm, and lasting. For me, design thinking is about observing these natural references and translating them into interiors that age beautifully. Which palette feels most like home to you? #interiordesign #materialstudy #timelessinteriors #designthinking #natureinspires taken in Berlin, Germany by @studio.emzada

Most interiors are designed to look good. But spaces aren’t experienced at eye level - they’re experienced through contact. In kitchens especially, what we touch every day shapes how a space feels. Countertops, handles, utensils and trays matter more than the overall composition. Highly reflective, hard surfaces amplify light and contrast. When everything at hand level is smooth and glossy, the space can feel sharp or exposed. Natural materials work differently. They absorb light, soften reflections, and add warmth where it’s actually experienced. If a kitchen feels cold, the answer isn’t always renovation. Small material changes at hand level can shift the experience. Save this as a reminder to design beyond the visual. #Interiordesign #materialmatters #designthinking #interiorarchitecture #designforwellbeing by @studio.emzada

Not every beautiful space is good for you. Before we consciously judge a space, our body has already scanned it for glare, echo, contrast, and texture. Glossy finishes, cool LEDs, and harsh acoustics can subtly keep us on edge. Warm, layered light and tactile materials tend to do the opposite - they help us settle. To create a calmer space: • Switch to warmer lighting (around 2700K) • Add one tactile material • Reduce one reflective surface Save this for your next interior update. #interiordesign #wellnessdesign #neuroarchitecture #designforwellbeing #interiordesigner by @studio.emzada

In Bali, repetition is deliberate, controlled, and never overdone. Repetition creates rhythm, and rhythm creates a sense of calm. Instead of mixing many styles or materials, spaces rely on a few choices, used consistently. A strong design isn’t about how much you introduce, but how well you commit. #interiordesign #balidesign #designconcept #designinspo #designthinking taken in Bali, Indonesia by @studio.emzada

One of the strongest impressions Bali left on me wasn’t a material or a colour - it was the way light is treated. Nothing is overly bright. Nothing is harsh. Light is filtered through layers: fabric, timber, shadow. It creates interiors that feel calm and human, even in open spaces. A reminder that lighting is not a technical afterthought, but a design decision. Save for future lighting inspiration. #interiordesign #interiorarchitecture #lightingdesign #balidesign #designinspo taken in Bali, Indonesia by @studio.emzada

Spending time in Bali reminded me how powerful restraint can be in interiors. So many of the spaces I photographed rely on very few materials - but those materials are allowed to fully express themselves. Texture replaces decoration. Imperfection replaces polish. It’s a reminder that warmth doesn’t come from adding more, but from choosing better. How to anchor the design in softness and a bold sense of calm? Take frosted glass, artificial greenery, diffused lighting and tonal harmony to transform a bland glass partition between two rooms of an office space into an immersive sanctuary. What started as a leak in the shower turned into the perfect opportunity to refresh the bathroom. The new zellige tiles on the walls bring in light and texture, and allowed us to design a built-in niche for all the shower toiletries. Proof that a white bathroom doesn’t have to feel sterile. The concept blends Mediterranean modern warmth with a touch of cottage charm for a timeless, grounded feel. by @studio.emzada

A formal entrance hall to welcome guests and allow for semi-private lounging turned out trickier to conceptualize than anticipated. With endless schematic collages, sourcing the right products, fabrics and colours it finally came together. In the end it turned into a hall hugged by raw silk walls and a variety of nuances and textures, without losing the essence of the corporate environment.
